Default Elizabeth

Elizabeth has update her website with new pages.
http://www.eaw.co.uk

One thing I found interesting was a article on Reality TV written for the Observer but I don't think was published.

Thanks Dinallt

I am not at all sure about Elizabeth's writing style. The unpublished article does not read well, and I find that her comments are so negative that they do not stimulate any internal discussion for the reader.

She fails, in all her discussions of the phenomenom of Big Brother, to examine why she really went in.

She applied for the first BB, was a standby, and applied again. She therefore can't say she did not know the effect it would have.

She saw how:

Nick was initially villified, and then how he cashed in on his villianous persona;

Mel was villified for kissing two different chaps in eight weeks;

Craig had a record contract, then lost it;

How Nicola had a single which bombed;

How Caroline and Nicola were criticised in the press for mistaking themselves for celebrities at a 'bash';

How they had all flashed and burned in the short 10 months between BB1 & BB2.

How on earth, as an intelligent woman, could she not have identified the true motives of the programme makers and the potential pitfalls ahead for the participants?

All in my humble opinion of course......

Can't understand the basis of Elizabeth's bitterness. As ROB said she should have known full well what she was getting herself into. She said several times in the house she was in it to win it so perhaps this is just bad sportsmanship. I think she always over emphasised the back to basics aspect. She should have expected that with an expected audience aged between 16 - 34 the programme would concentrate on the light hearted. The woman is old before her time.

If Elizabeth thought bb was so evil i wonder why she applied a second time after not getting in the first time,I think she is a bad loser and she thinks she was edited to make her less popular so she blames bb for that.
After watching hours of bb2 on e4 I think bb would have been hard pushed to find anything that could have changed the public view of her.I'm sure if she stopped moaning she would find herself far more popular

I agree rachb. I remember her moaning constantly while she was in the house too. Anyone else remember the night of the dinner dates when she was whingeing about the fact that the diary room door wasn't soundproof? She was the only one out of eleven people to have a serious problem with that fact, which led me to feel she was not really being herself with the others.

I also watched endless hours of E4, and found that the C4 programmes showed her in quite a favourable light compared to how nasty she could really be. They only showed a tiny snippet of her deckchair rant for example - when it seemed to go on for hours, and left no housemate unscathed!

I read that article somewhere else a while ago and I remember being stunned that she'd actually been paid for writing it, so it was a relief to hear it was never actually published. I was beginning to think the world had gone mad!!

I agree with all the comments made - if Elizabeth was as intelligent as she told everyone she was - why on earth did she put herself through it. It was obvious that she had a huge game plan, cos she kept telling everyone that she wasnt being herself. You are right Ig I thought out of all of them Elizabeth came off the best with the editing - after listening to some of her bitching she was nearly as bad as Adele and that is saying something.

Do you think a little bit of the green eyed monster is rearing its ugly head - after all she thought she had a good chance of winning and must have realised afterwards that if she had been put up for nomination she would be have been out with 100% of the votes!

No "seemed" about it, Ig. It DID go on for hours, well into the wee sma hours of the morning in fact and I watched it all.

Poor Dean looked quite bemused by the end!!
