Default Friends

some good news for all Friends fan out there.
----
news from digital spy

The new series of Friends will premiere on Channel 4 just one day after its first E4 showing, it was announced today.

New series of US imports traditionally air on pay-TV channels first, with a six-month delay before they get a terrestrial outing. Channel 4 has decided to remove the delay for what is most likely to be the final series of Friends, however, in a move which it says is "sure to delight millions of UK viewers."

"As this could be the final series for the global hit, it is guaranteed to be filled with surprises and suspense. We thought it would be unfair to keep the millions of fans waiting six months to see what happens in the end," said June Dromgoole, C4 controller of programme acquisition.

"Friends has become one of the most popular sitcoms in the world and a benchmark for comedy writing. Channel 4 takes great pride in the effort and investment we have made in making Friends into such a valuable and admired series in the UK."

The ninth series premieres on Thursday 9 January on E4.

I am a fan of Friends but I think it's right that they are stopping after this season.

I've actually seen the first 10 episodes of the new series and although it is still funny, it's not as good as it once was.

I've always thought that it was a mistake to get Chandler and Monica together and the show went downhill after that.

I have loved it, but like James feel that they are in danger of flogging a dead horse soon.

I really enjoyed the Monica and Chandler bit, the will they, won't they - but that is hardly a surprise given my track record with love stories is it?

Thanks for that mcginn - passed the info on to son - made his day. He is the world's biggest fan - even watches the repeats. He has every single episode on video - had to have the latest series on video instead of dvd to make the collection complete.

Me I quite like it, would just like Rachel and Ross to finally get together - nothing like a bit of romance and a wedding, will say no more.

I'm afraid I'm not a huge Friends fan, but then I don't really find any of the American comedy series' funny. I suppose Friends is better than most, and I do watch it occasionally, but I'm really not that bothered at all.

Friends to get 10th series

I like the comment at the end, 'the series should definately be the last'. That's what they said last year!

As with everything, I was a latecomer to Friends !!! Nothin g new there then I hear you all say.

I have enjoyed all that I have seen and at one time watched every episode whenever it was on 'till I got all 'Friendsed Out' ! I have enjoyed all the recent Monica ,Chandler and Rachel stuff and am looking forward to the next series but no longer watch all the old stuff like I used to.

Happy Christmas Everyone !!

I heard about the 10th series as well, and was in two minds as to whether it's a good thing or not. I thought a lot of series 8 was fairly ropey compared to previous series.

So I will wait until series 9 is on before I reserve judgment! I am looking forward to seeing Rachel cope with a baby though, maybe I will be able to learn a few tips!!

I'm like you kaphc in that I have mixed feelings about the 10th series. Friends is one of my fave shows as it always cheers me up when I have had a bad day but I also think that it will run itsn course soon and it wont be remembered so nicely, people will get very bored of it and the finale won't be too spectacular.
I will setlle for the next one as I do love it but after that, it HAS to go!
