He will still have undergone psychological tests. Which if dont correctly, by qualified professionals, would have quickly shown that he was unstable. The viewers knew within a few days

He might have been totally different in the audtions, they probably thought of him as a fun loving Indian who was maybe a bit naive. They have let plenty of Sociopaths in over the years so they probably don't pay that much attention really.
