Also, she's certainly a better dancer than Dannii & Cheryl are singers, yet is receiving worse press than they did?

maybe its because she replaced Arlene, if she had came in as a fifth judge it might not be so bad. But what makes me laugh, and shows peoples ignorance, is people can't wait for this Darcy woman who noone has ever heard of, despite the fact she is a ballerina and has even less experience than Alesha!!

I think Alesha did a fine job, and it was nice to have some positivity on the panel for once, rather than constant negative comments form the judges. I agreed with almost all her marks too, so she made a fine judge as far as I'm concerned, and Craig has come out supporting her.

I thought she was great. For the second show she came to her own.

These nut jobs in the media are trying to make out she should be coming out with numerous bits of technical knowledge and criticising to the bone and being utterly brutal and ripping them apart with the bravado of somebody with 10 years of dance experience.

They forget, if she did that, the press would also destroy her but also being so brutal and critical is ultimately unnecessary. She said the right things for a first two nights. It's like these guys haven't really had much training - she's not going to be a muppet and rip them apart on day one.

Arlene was never good - she was wrong most of the time. Just that she gave all that bravado and said things like your arm should be straight, pull your shoulders back, don't be so floppy, you're crouching, etc etc.

Don't worry - I am sure Alesha will take Arlene's book of Strictly critique eventually and then the media can rubbish her some more for saying what Arlene repeatedly said but for not being Arlene when she said it...

Yeah I feel sorry for Alesha getting stick in the press and over 1000 complaints. It is the producers fault. She was asked to take up the job and took it. I thought she was great last week!

The backlash was always going to happen, but it has been over the top and she's a nice person who doesn't really deserve it. But if I'm honest her comments during the first two shows (last Friday and Saturday) were pretty useless/irrevelant. She was saying the same thing to everyone 'You did a good job for your first dance', 'you looked great together as a couple' blah blah. She was a lot better last night though, I must say. I'm missing Arlene though.. could they not have kept Arlene and added Alesha too? argh


And I do find it funny that Cheryl never got any slack when she started judging the XF. She's the worst singer of Girls Aloud imo, Simon even said she was a s hit singer when GA first started.

I think it is because Sharon left and they needed a replacement so they replaced Sharon with Cheryl but on Strictly come dancing Arlene was sacked from the show, she did not willingly leave and then she was replaced by a younger model.

She was just echoing what the other judges said half the time and I still question the logic behind making changes to a panel of judges who seemed to be working well together. There was bound to be a backlash and I can understand exactly why. Ageism and sexism of the highest order. Figures have dropped and I have no doubt that it's due in no small way to Alesha's presence on the show.
