Love all mentioned so far except The Who - I can appreciate them but I've never really been much of a fan. And I don't really know much about The Byrds.

Have to love The Animals for House of the Rising Sun, too. (and to a lesser extent "We've Gotta Get Out Of This Place" or whatever it's called).

I'm not going to begin on Motown - I could be here for a while. Martha & The Vandellas, Dusty Springfield, The Jackson 5, The Temptations, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Lionel Richie [though some of these are slipping into the 70s really]...okay I've begun LOL

You can't really talk about good music unless you think of and include the 60's! My dad got me into it, have been listening to roy orbison, johnnie cash, peter paaul and mary, the kinks etc since I was a baby!

I think music was the 60s, so much good stuff whereas today good non manufactured acts are pretty rare to come across.

I love Motown more than the rock/indie side of the 60s but both are good ...
