Default Junk Mail tip

I am sure there is a load of people on here who get a lot and are sick of junk e-mail. I for one get it ALL THE TIME and it drives me mad.
I was told by my computer technician today that you should add numbers to your e-mail address because the spammers cant detect who it is by numbers. So if your address is annie_smith @yahoo.co.uk - change it to annie_smith222@yahoo.co.uk
It does apparently help to jam the mail coming to your inbox.
A bit of a random thing I guess to post but I found it pretty interesting!

Another tip is to never reply asking for them not to send you mail...

This only confirms to them that the address is active, and you will still get it, plus more...

My Hotmail account ends in numbers as well and although I don't get a lot, I do still get some junk mail coming through.

Maybe it helps jam some of the spam, but sadly not it all.

Yeah, if you block email it sends back a message saying the email doesn't exist and the junk mail server removes your name..

I've lowered my junk mail from about 15 a day to 1 or 2 by:

1) Noticing a lot of it came from the same email address, so I blocked the email address - most email clients have a block list

2) Sending a email from the TiBB server to the sender saying that my address didn't exist, and it actually worked

On a related topic, I also heard that when you make your e-mail address book it goes first in numerical, then alphabetical order. If you make up an e-mail address that consists solely of zeros i.e. 0@00.com and put their first AND last name as 0 (zero) too, this can stop potential viruses sending their nastiness on to all your e-mail contacts (it will list the 0@00 first as it's numerical and the virus is supposed to stop there).

I don't know how true it is though. Perhaps someone else has heard this and can either verify it or rubbish it?
