Its all about taste and opinion.
It's not opinion, it's quiet the opposite. It's listing by default what the fellers in the suits want you to hear.

Seriously, Spirit? Best album of the entire decade? Obviously personal preference plays a part like you said but that's the personal preference to me of someone who has not heard a lot of records this decade.

If people would just expand the mind's eye a bit and search and listen outside the obvious mainstream channels the world would be a much brighter, happier, more diverse place.

Chemistry?! that's like their worst. Tangled Up almost made my list, but was omitted out of shame LOL.

Just checked the track listing, your right, not that great. But my mind was in full on ''you cantescapema BIOLOGAY!'' mode at the time of writing, considering how ridiculously good it is for a pop song.

On reflection, as far as complete albums go, Out Of Control's the one.

Assuming you're a Rammstein fan going by your signature, I could just as easily say that your tastes have been shaped by mainstream heavy metal kitsch. You could also look at my list and say I have ommited a number of albums that I haven't been lucky enough to get recommended to me by friends or simply randomly pick up and you could argue that I have mentioned mainstream artists such as Radiohead and Animal Collective at the expense of someone more talented and less successful whom I haven't been lucky enough to come across.

The argument ultimately winds up going around in circles so the least we can do is permit people to list the albums they like best out of the ones they've heard. We are within our rights to hate 'musicians' other people listen to, but it's no reason to snidely make fun of people for it.

argh, not a big OOC fan either it's just a bit of a mess at times tho the singles are strong. Tangled Up is just a pop masterpiece for me. Their debut wasn't bad either actually.

Honestly? I loved every minute of it apart from the closing track "Come Around"... I blame Timbaland for that though.

Difference being my list is full of ~all two! acts that could be considered metal. One moderately well known to those into the genres, one less so. Make it three if you want to condense NIN into being metal.

The debut is fun, yeah, but just a sneak peak at what was to come. And the videos from that era are horrid. Presumably they brought in the stylists before the second album!

They obviously like her music to.. and yes some havent heard many but the point is pretty much the best albums you have heard.

I have listened to loads this decade, wouldnt have muse in there or anything though..

that's fiar enough but I still think that regardless of how many albums of the decade you've heard, you still know that is reality Spirit is not the best album of the entire decade. Hell it wasn't even the best album of 2007.

Too hard to put in order but here's the ten.

Klaxons- Myths of the Near Future.
Kasabian- West Ryder 2009
Arctic Monkeys- Whatever People
The Killers- Hot Fuzz
MGMT-Oracular Spectacualar
Strokes- Is this it.
Daft Punk- Discovery
White Lies- To Lose my Life
Friendly Fires- Friendly Fires
Kings of Leon-Aha Shake Heartbreak

Seriously Lacking Muse and Arcade Fire in that list though

Obviously. That's not the point I am arguing. Of course it's down to free will and personal preference. And likewise, the rest of us were giving our free willed personal interpretation of the list! I think I get angry out of compassion, really. So much beautiful music the masses are dead to. I think if they were woken to this Spirit would certainly not be this decade's greatest masterpiece! Opinions aside, come on, seriously, Spirit?.

Oh alright. I'm a music nazi. Sieg Heil 1,2,3,4 and all of that.

I never got into the Monkey's, to be honest. Not one bit. It's funny because everyone considers me a 'rocker' or someone into nothing but metal but for the most part I hate 99.9% of that music. I like music with texture, where no record sounds the same as the last and no record uses the same sound twice. That's why I'm such a ***** for electronic music rather than guitar/bass/drum music.

No limits to what you can create with synths and whatnot. To me it's just more colourful than plain old vanilla rock againandagainandagain. Then again on the flip side very few people seem willing to tap into this potential given that 99.9% of electronic music is mulch too.

It's all about finding that 0.01%

One song that really, really never went away this decade was No One Knows by the Queens. Not that it's a bad thing, because it's a quality tune, but man has it stood the test of time. It's still being played on the rock channels as much as when it first came out.
