That's constructive... NOT!..

However, I do think it's a massive over-reaction.

Well I don't think it is a good idea to cause offence to people's religions so I wouldn't approve of these cartoons.

However religious teachings are really ideas - theories if you like - and what would the world be like if ideas and theories couldn't be criticised or debated?

How very diplomatic of you James. I applaud you.

You see, this is why the likes of you runs this place - and the likes of me doesn't.

back to the topic though.. I think it's a case of priorities gone wrong when people think it's ok to set buildings on fire (The Danish Consulate in Beirut), but think a pencil drawing is so morally wrong!

Massive over-reaction to the cartoon. However, I have to say I think the cartoon was ill-advised and insensitive, especially in the current climate. To be honest, if nobody had over-reacted in the first place, most people wouldn't even know about it.

I agree with that, Ruth. It was obvious that there would be controversy as soon as the Danish newspaper decided to print the cartoons. Freedom of speech is one thing, but this was just blatant and unnecessary provocation. What annoys me is that this issue is receiving so much attention in our media. This material wasn't printed here, and very probably never will be. Reporting the reaction elsewhere is necessary, but the debate on freedom of speech and whether they should be printed here or not is foolish in the extreme. It's not our issue, and we should leave well alone.

Freedom of speech does not give the right to shout fire in a crowded theatre.

Now people have died, and some of the the blood must be on the cartoonist and the editors hands. If they had not drawn it and published it, this would not have happened.

There was one guy who made a film exposing violence against women, and he was murdered. I suspect, given the way things are going, a similar fate will await the original cartoonist and editor.

It seems you insult Islam at your own peril

BTW some moderate Islamic leaders have condemmed the extremist position

the muslims are stopping people from expressing thier views. however wrong they are. i still see that radical cleric writing about how to attack british people walking the streets.

and a CARTOON causes riots and fear. its just an excuse for some hatred and flag-burning sessions imo.

btw im not racist at all. thats just my opinion.

It's ok yeah, not a patch on the office In my opinion, the office is just brilliant..funniest thing ever,

“A philosopher once wrote you need three things to have a good life. One, a meaningful relationship, two, a decent job of work, and three, to make a difference. And it was always that third one that stressed me, to make a difference. And I realise that I do. Every day, we all do. It’s how we interact, with our fellow man.”
“How would you like to be remembered?”
“Simply, as, the man who put a smile on the face of all who he met.”

quality,

I personally think all most all muslims are taking everything too seriously. Everything nowadays is offensive to there religion and yet once they have a problem with our celebrations, they have to be scraped.

I think the man dressing as a suicide bomber was being so immoral and inciting racism more then any other person in this whole situation.

There all quick to condemn a picture making fun of there prophet, but what about them then taking the mickey out of all the people KILLED in London last year?

All i can think of in responce to them is the word 'hypocrites'.
