Hi Davie ...... I'll try!

What is it you want to put exactly? Page numbers, title of your essay, or something else?

OK, if it's just the page numbers you need in a footer, then this is what you do.

Firstly, click 'View' on the top Word menu, then click on 'Headers and Footers'. This box will pop up ....

Click on the fourth little box from the right to switch between header and footer. Once you've got the footer box, tab your cursor to the centre of the footer box, and then click on the first little button on the left of the box 'Insert Page Number'. The number '1' will appear. Then click Close.

Now your document will show the number '1' as a footer in grey type ... the next page will automatically be 2, then 3, etc.

If you want to edit the footer, just double click on it and the box will open up again.

Hope that helps ..... give me a shout if you get stuck.

Excellent ..... well done!

Microsoft Word is great for checking your spelling too. If you don't know where it is, click 'Tools' and then 'Spelling & Grammar'. Brilliant.
