Capcom has pushed back three new titles from its initially slated launch dates so as to avoid the highly congested first quarter release window.
Dead Rising 2, Super Street Fighter IV and Lost Planet 2 will all now be shifted to the publisher's 2011 financial year, which starts on April 1. According to Capcom's latest investor report, the adjusted release schedule was motivated by a desire to "avoid competing with the major titles the other companies plan to introduce". During the three months to March 30, major game releases include 2K's BioShock 2, EA's Battlefield: Bad Company 2, Sony's God Of War III, Ubisoft's Splinter Cell: Conviction, Sega's Aliens vs. Predator and Square Enix's Final Fantasy XIII. However, Capcom still intends to release Dark Void on January 15, but it has revised sales predictions for the game down from the initial 1.3m copies to just 600,000. A financial year is different to a normal year as we know it. They're delaying it due to the potential of better sales not because it's incomplete so I don't think they'll delay them for long and let them lose their lustre. I reckon they'll all be out by Summer. |
