It is being used too much and arguble wrongly. For now I think Vinnie is just bitching and being rude, but if it continues, particularly against Alex, then yes I would use the word bully.

Its very true, since the introduction of various Human Rights legislation in the mid to late 80's, the widespread increase in US tv programs and the dramatic increase in the sales of games consoles, Britain has turned into a nation largely consisting of know it all couch potatoes, who have an over inflated value of their own opinion and worth, who instigate litigation seeking compensation at an instant.

No doubt one day, when the obese slackers realise the life they have missed outside of the safety of their bedroom they will seek redress from the manufacturers of said consoles.

So perhaps an amendment to my earlier words, playstation generation should possibly be changed to "playstation compensation generation"

I don't think Vinnie is a bully no way, i think how he's been talking to Alex lately has been a bit nasty but he's also been very kind to him at other times and it is a weird environment we must remember so Vinnie was probably bored. Plus Alex is a big boy he can take it.

It depends how Alex actually feels? If he feels hurt or intimidated then his feelings should be taken into account but he has not complained yet. I don't think he is bullying but maybe now and again being mean with the digs.

And I'm well informed on the subject because it's been part of my life so I'd recommend you not to think I know nothing about it. I looked for a simple and clear definition so everyone could understand it like crystal water.
And you didn't get it at first otherwise you wouldn't have ran your mouth for nothing, as usual.

As for Vinnie, Alex is a very strong boy and it is not bullying whatsoever. To me, Vinnie is being bitchy and most people (including you) don't seem to make the difference. And that's sad.

Yeah they use it for no apparent reason and that's annoying. People don't know what it means anymore so let's all remind them what is a bully:

Quote:
A person who is habitually cruel or overbearing, especially to smaller or weaker people.

From thefreedictionary.com

Is that clear to everyone now ? Stop using this word when someone is having an argument. It's pointless and meaningless.

It's the way you say it - read it again, very pompous. You understand the meaning and noone else does! I don't think so!

Ugh, I hate the way the word bully gets used on this site, and by the public in general. This word was not used really when I was going to school as a kid, and now, its the epitome of every argument - on tv and IRL. Everything is "bullying" if it isn't roses and bunnies.

I wish to agree with certain people in this thread but I'm afraid agreeing with a large group of people constitutes one being a bully these days in some peoples eyes on TiBB.

Oh dear god, chillax peeps, was merely a joke poking fun at peoples intolerances and failure to accept other peoples opinions. I was poking fun at people who have to label people as opposing to simply say "what they do offends my sensibilities". Or "I dont like the way such and such acts, its not nice".

Its much easier to say they are a bully. a slag, etc.

OMG I have just realised I was making a jest, which in itself shouldnt be tolerated should it? Not only that it was poking fun at people, albeit in the vain hope of making them see the way they portray themselves may not be viewed by others as the way they wish to be seen.

I am a bully. Just like Vinnie eh?

I was just saying this word is used out of context most of the time and I'm fed up of it. Don't read too much into things, it wasn't my intention to look superior because I'm not.
