i think he goes to secondary school because he wears a tie to school, which generally means secondary here. i'd say he's probably year 9, which would make him about 13/14. if the actor's had a growth spurt since s3 then they could get away with it.

s3 = year 9
s4 = year 10

if they skip a year for s5, it'd mean he's onto sixth form/college which is old enough for the show.

They could pass him off as any secondary school year student, really. A growth spurt would be needed to have him in S5, though.
