Did anyone watch it? It's one thing to read about it and see the aftermath, but the footage recorded by people who were actually there and experienced it was gripping and really brought home the enormity of the tragedy. The saddest story was of the mum who was clinging on to her five year old daughter when the wave struck, but the little girl was ripped from her grasp by the force of the water and she drowned. Absolutely heartbreaking.

it was on channel 4 a few weeks ago, i weird to think all the people you see getting washed away are now dead
the guy who was just stood on the beach waiting for the wave just to come and wash him away was the most emotive part for me |

I must have missed it when it was aired first time. I can't seem to shake some of those images out of my head - it was frightening how fast it all was and that guy on the beach I don't think he was able to get his head round what was actually happening poor sod. Also that elderly couple that the young guy tried to help but who were washed away - awful.
