George Michael thinks it would be wrong for stars to promote an anti-war song.
I don't think it would be too bad. If Lee Ryan has took time to write this song it must mean something to him. I don't think it would do any harm to do this. The war is something every one has an opinion on at the moment and these people are all adults and know what they are talking about - politics or no politics. What do you think? I can see where George is coming from though. Click here to read article |

No wonder George Michael didn't want Lee Ryan from Blue making an anti-war song. ![]() Read this to see what I mean. ![]() |

He'll be releasing Mothers Pride next which was a good song, it wouldnt be the right time now though. It was a great album Listen without Prejudice. Had to agree with him the other day when he said the pop world had changed, I mean who else could write Cowboys and Angels. No One!! If they did a cover version it would be mucked up.

I think you're being a little harsh on George here. I listened to him on David Frost's Breakfast with Frost a few weeks ago and he was sooo elequent and passionate about the war. I also saw him on Graham Norton singing the Don Maclean song, which was extremely powerful and then he was on a serious BBC2 programme called Hardtalk and he was so honest and hardhitting it was almost painful to watch him. I think he may have been misquoted about an anti-war song. What he actually said was that he didn't want another 'Band-aid' type record, as this war was not something that money could fix. he went on to say it had taken him until this age to have political wisdom enough to speak out. I think that the newspaper may have twisted this to use against him. I admire his stance and I don't for one minute think he wants to gain anything out of it for himself.

I also saw George, albeit only on Richard and Judy, and I felt he made his point eloquently. He is against the war, unequivocably, for the same reasons largely that I am.
I am sure he is not thinking about personal gain at all. He is using his considerable fame to good effect. He knows people will look at him, and hopes they will listen. He is following his moral conscience, and using every opportunity to try to get his reasoned and measured message over. I applaud him for it. |
