Always destined to go tits up? Can I recommend you look at the governments of both World Wars, also the governments of the 1930's before you make ludicous statements.

That was a different era, the world was at war, they had to stick together no matter what or else England would be ****ed

First off it wasnt England it was, and is the United Kingdom

Secondly as I said look it up, coalition formed by Asquith in 1915, there was a split within the liberal party between asquith and Lloyd George, LD lead the government , election in 1918 a coalition government was re elected and sat till 1922. (WW1 ended in 1918). The coalition split in 1922 Bonar Law was invited to form a government - (first and only PM not born in the uk) Conservatives won the election at the end of 22.

In the spring of 1929, Baldwin disolved parliament expecting to be returned. Instead, on May 30 MacDonald’s Labour Party received 288 seats compared with the Conservative Party’s 260, with the Liberals again holding the balance of power, with 59 seats. MacDonald formed his second government, again with Liberal consent, if not support.

A coalition type government of one form or another continued running the country till the end of the second world war (1939-1945)

Nah not really the parliament at Westminster is the UK government, England unlike Scotland etc doesnt have its own regional assembly. Its that sort of attitude that hacks off the Micks Taffs and porridge ****.

Best get used to the coalition type government and all the deal brokering, because if any form of PR is introduced thats what is going to happen from now on.

May have been a different era but the problems with the economy, unemployment etc were pretty much what we have now.

Maybe you're right

but I dont get a good feeling out of any coalition that could be done with any of Britian's current parties

Nah thats the one thing politicians are good at, changing sides and idealogies in order to stay aboard the gravy train.

I think he's useless really, nothing good has come about in his reign and many problems that should have been dealt with have been left to become worse over time. If the Labour can use this loss to dust themselves down, get a better leader and focus on what they originally stood for then I'd be all for them returning to power as I hate the Tories (In an ideal world I would like the libdems to have a crack at it but it isn't a realistic prospect sadly).

The monarch cannot "influence elections" my dear aussie chump but she could, if she so chose, influence the outcome of this present predicament we find ourselves in. The GBP have already spoken and the Conservatives have the most seats, like it or not. Oh,and by the way, where on earth do you get the idea that we do not have any constitutional conventions?

If a time came to pass, for instance, when a law threatened the freedom or security of her subjects and citizens, the Queen could decline royal assent, free as she is from the constraints of party politics. Furthermore, armed removal of her by Parliament or Government would be difficult, as the monarch remains commander-in-chief of the armed forces, who swear an oath of allegiance to her.

I talk rubbish? LOL - Some of your posts are virtually incoherent and totally pointless. Condescending and arrogant? Pot/Kettle springs to mind
what crazy rant is this.
The queen CAN not nor ever should have any influence on politics under ANY circumstances. Rubbish cliches like " oh boo woo your twisting my words" are as sad as " oh boo woo your trolling poor lil'ol me". Both of which you regularly try.
You said that the queen not only HAS the right ( crap) but OUGHT to get involved....that's not me twisting your words. Not only doesn't she has a right under the constitution ( again there ain't one!!!) but you wanting her to interfere in UK's politics shows what little understanding or respect you have for democracy and due process. Oh and her being commander of the military is strictly CEREMONIAL lol ... again your low opinion of democracy is clearly on display given you think she can call on the military to sort stuff out. Why do I need to point out stuff about your own country. Maybe it's time you left this politics stuff alone :P ... you sound like what you want is a return of the feudal system...a nice modern dictatorship?

Lol, Angepange now you're disrespecting the Scots (of which I am not one by the way!). Have you learned how to count yet? Must be all those late nights - they take a toll on the old brain cells.

I have been called many things, but never that.

In fact, I've never even heard of that til just now.

Now I'm conflicted. Should I be offended or honoured?

I do like learning new stuff Joe.

Usually I just get generic insults, or if nationality-specific they are usually predictable.

Although, I have been called a Tartan Trollop a few times. That's inventive.

Ricin is quite effective, as is any one of a selection of radioactive isotopes. What you really want is something that wont be easily identified and doesnt really have an effective antidote.
