No it burnt my mouth the first time I ate it, and my throat swelled like a balloon. Think I might be allergic to it.

The traditional communion wafers served during Roman Catholic and a lot of other denominations communion services are made out of two ingredients, wheat flour and water, no additives or seasonings. They are made by nuns, in fact its the main source of income for some orders. Although for some people gluten free breads made from soy or potato flours are used

Some churches use pita bread, even normal table bread. And in an emergency where the normal wafers(hosts) cannot be obtained most denomintaions have sanctioned the use of any replacement bread like substances. For example after the 2004 Indonesian Tsunami at least one Catholic priest celebrated mass using portions of cream crackers as a substitute.

And of course if you count Transubstantiation amongst your beliefs, it's none of those things. It's literally the body and blood of Christ.

Those crazy nutters.

You have to have the sacrament of Eucharist for the first time in a special ceremony which is just about holy bread.
Confirmation is about renewing the promises your parents made to God during your baptism.

True, thats the belief. During the consecration the bread and wine are held to be changed into the body and blood without changing material substance. Twas altar bread and wine that started me on the path to my fall from grace, but thats a story for a rainy day.

Each to their own beliefs, I suppose.
