Former boxer Chris Eubank has said that he wants a role on the X Factor judging panel.

The eccentric 43-year-old claimed that he is "the best person" to stand in for Dannii Minogue during this year's audition stages.

"I was mates with Louis and Simon in the '90s so who else can you imagine doing it other than me?" he told the Daily Star.

Eubank has previously appeared on Celebrity Big Brother and starred in his own Five fly-on-the-wall series At Home With The Eubanks.

This year's X Factor is expected to use a series of guest judges at the auditions round until Minogue returns from pregnancy leave for the live shows.

Stars including Dannii's sister Kylie, Robbie Williams, Michael Bublé and Mel B are rumoured to be on the producers' wish list.
