As a world-famous luche libre wrestler I can just tell you that guys with David's body shape are almost always freakishly strong.

That sort of thick upper body across the back, the sloped shoulders, big head and sort of disproportionately smaller arms but longer arms.
I've never seen some scientific bio-mechanical study but in my experience those 'bear' body types are just freaks with wrestling strength. Its strange because they kinda look fat and 'slobby' but wow will they surprise the hell out of you with power.

Oddly enough the build we tend to think of as strongest is the 'V' shape and yet those are often much easier to grapple and especially to throw down.
