Default Smokers

There aren't many smokers in the house this year. Seems like smoking has become more and more socially unacceptable.

I think it's only been Lisa, Lea, Aisleyne & I'm not sure about Bonnie & Sam...

4 or 5 out of 17 HMs...

I'm glad to see that it's becoming less acceptable

On the outside world it depends on the surroundings/people/context etc.... for example when I was at school loads of people smoked and continued to....now at uni in the law department next to noone smokes!!!!

What'll happen when our nanny state imposes the smoking ban?? Will they be allowed to smoke at all? If they allow it, it's only a matter of time before some bottom scavenger lawyer persuades someone to sue.

I don't think that banning smoking makes us a nanny state, however I think that other things may make that title justified. Breathing in other people's smoke means that you are being endangered beyond choice and is unacceptable and selfish. I have no problem with people smoking as long as it is not affecting anyone else. Some of my friends back home smoke and keep it away from me/go outside etc. That is reasonable. But to make my clothes, my body and my hair stink and to cause my lungs to be corrupted...plus I am asthmatic....why should other people suffer???

Probably they'll screen out smokers during the auditions.

Your nanny state is pretty bad, with the speed cameras and all, but just try being a smoker in New York. You'd think you'd just lit up a baby seal, not a cigarette!

I remember reading a report a while ago (sorry, yeah I know that's vague but it's the best I can do), which stated that you would breath in more toxins in 30 minute walk home from work through rush hour traffic than you would in a whole night in a smokey bar.

But then. it'll only be a matter of time before cars are banned as well. Then, we'll have our meals provided for us (to ensure nutritional content), mandatory state controlled morning exercises, limited to one child per family, state controlled press and media and finally, camera's in every household.

Big Brother is watching you....

The sooner we get a liberal, anti-regulation, anti-censorship, drug-legalising government, the better

I'm sorry, I still do not wish to breathe in someone's cigarette smoke. It is disgusting and does cause health issues. Moreover it makes me smell!!!!! If I wanted my hair to stink of smoke and my clothes to be ruined, I'd smoke myself...but I choose not to. Furthermore, it is tacky!!

I agree, people shouldn't have to breath in other people's smoke. They should get up and leave when I light up Free choice is the basis of any democracy, and people should have the choice to leave when I want a cigarette

I was quite surpised aswell because previous years have been mainly filled of smokers. I think it is nicer to see not so many smokers in the house, because alot of kids watch the show.

I don't like pompous vegetarians or "holier than thou" middle england,Daily Mail reading types, and I'm sure I could get some reports together with medical evidence to show that my hatred for them possibly causes me some form of mental anguish and possible menal health problems in later life.

Can we ban vegetarians and "holier than thou" types as well please???

Oh no! I'm a smoking vegetarian! They'll have me twice!

If we get to ban all the things that annoy us in public, does that mean I can ban fat people who walk down the street eating food out of paper wrappers? Oh - and can I ban people who honk their car horns for too long? And dog owners who dress their pets in boots?

Ban everything!

lol I note your sarcasm!!! To be fair, society is only trying to ban the things that are harmful which make other people who choose not to indulge, affected health-wise
