I'm confused about the banner/pic thing. People have a picture underneath their name on the left hand side of their post - is that the avatar? Because I keep trying to upload a pic and it never works. So I'm thinking I'm putting it in the banner bit by mistake or something.

Hi, ice_maiden.

Yep, the pic under your name on the left hand side is the Avatar.

To upload a pic from your PC, go to Control Panel, then Edit Profile.

Scroll down to 'Avatar options'

Then at 'Upload Avatar from your computer', click on the 'Browse' button and select the pic you want to upload from your PC. It will automatically be resized for you if it's too big.

Then click 'Edit Profile' at the bottom of the screen.

So how do you get a banner thing underneath your post?

No problem.

If you've already made a banner in Paint Shop Pro or something similar, you need to upload the file to a server such as Photobucket or ImageShack (both free), then get the URL address for the file and insert it between [img] and [/img] brackets in your signature box in your profile.

If you haven't got a banner made, then there are loads of really talented banner makers on the Forum ...... I'm sure one of them would help you out.
