It was a year ago on this day London was hammered by 4 deadly bomb strikes.

Anybody have any memories of how they first saw the news.
What they were doing?

What your reaction was?

There is a 2 minute silence at 12 noon today.

11/2/74 Birmingham 21 people were killed and 182 people were injured by two bombs. A third device failed to detonate,
15/8/98 Omagh, Twenty-nine people were killed in the attack, including one woman who was pregnant with twins. Roughly 220 people were injured.

I was at work, in Worcester, when someone came in and told me they had heard on the radio. I felt very panicked as my Dad, brother, sister, niece and nephew all live in and around SE1 London. It took a while before I could get hold of my sister, who had been out shopping with my nephew, but thankfully none of them were hurt in the blasts.

I will be taking part in the two minute silence, although I also don't understand why this attack on London is treated any differently from the numerous other terrorist attacks on our country (including previous attacks on the capital).

I remember it i was in art with a suple teacher and she was letting us watch a video she was just getting it ready so she turned on the tv and was news 24/7 everyone was shouting keep on the news but she didnt listen she put on the video and we were all wondering what was going on my friend was really worried cos her grandma gets on that train normally during the time it went off (but she wasnt on it that day)

The London Attacks was the worst attrocity by a terrorists in the UK, and with it being one year on, its more significant, in a couple of years they wont be this much coverage.

207 People died when pan am flight 103 was bombed and crashed into Lockerbie on 21/12/88.

it just seems strange to me that the 54 people who died on 7/7 are remembered more by the media because it happened on the bbc and sky's doorstep.

Im not an Idiot nor a Tory. Im just aware that the media is the governments puppet in trying to make this "war on terror" credible for as long as possible. Its all a Scam by the leaders of the world to gain more control over its people.
where was this war on terror during the 60's, 70's and 80's?

I was on holiday and I just had a bad feeling something bad was going to happen and I just turned on sky news in my room and the headline came up and that was right at beginning when every1 thought it was a power failure and I cant eileve people are posting those messages because some1 from my town was involved and my dad used to work with her so i feel even upset I know people dont always agree but

I'll ignore the personal insults you directed to me, thats normally the sign of a person who cant hold a credible debate.
Of course I dont begrudge the families of victims their grief, but there are a lot more relatives of terrorist atack victims in the uk who are totally forgotten about, purely because the politics behind their deaths is no longer "newsworthy".

Personally, I thought the attack was horrible but slightly blown out of proportion. It's sad to see anything of this sort happend but it seemes like Britain were trying to replicate the media attention of the attacks of 9/11.. and it can't because there is no comparison at all. It's a sort of monkey-see, monkey-so situation. George Bush's country does it this way so we must too.

That's just my opinion anyway.

A sad day, indeed. One that should be commemorated well.

thanks Lance! yes you are perfectly correct that Britain has to emulate America to validate it's long term political plans, and also the next big attack will wipe 7/7 from public memory. I thought i was going to get roasted for being a terrorist for a while then......
Is it wrong to question our leaders motives or should we blindly just follow the designated grieving time they lay out then blank the ISSUE from our mind's?

Im not going to get into a political ramble, because everyone has different views and opinions.

I bet you any money if the one year anniversary hadnt been covered on tv, papers ect there would be an outcry. Its always hardents on the first anniversary of something like this, when someone days, its the first bday, first xmas ect after they died which is the hardest.
We should reflect and im glad that most of the country connected today, to take silence on those who were killed.
Its not Tony Blairs fault we got attacked, its not Blairs fault that those 4 men were brainwashed and blew themselves up. People always look for someone else to blame - and everytime people will say ' Government' from their rooftops. Ok, so the Intel Service should have kept a closer eye on them, we all look back in our own personal lives and think - i wish id clicked on sooner, i wish i could have known.

Its sad, really sad - this thread is suppose to remembering those who were affected this time last year - but its been hijacked with with comments that i dont feel right for today. The first post you made EasyPeasy - they were years ago, and at the time they were remembered, in years to come 7/7 wont get the same coverage as today.

I was on work experience and I was counting the money when I got a text from an uncle telling me. He was in London for 2 weeks for work, but he wasnt nowhere near the bombings.

I hate the four men for the destruction they have caused London. Burn in hell, I say.

I was at school when it happend. There were rumours flyning aroud that london had been "bombed". I didnt believe this until I got home to find sky news on with "breaking news" on the screen.
Our assembly today was for the victims of the 7/7 bombings.

the london booms was only a year old and i think this is were people who were there will start to get on with there lifes if they haven done so

people win the other booms that were ages ago have probely moved on wit hthere live and would not wont people to keep bringing it up

My thoughts and prayers are with all victims families and the survivors on this sad day. I was in shock when i heard that this had happened,

All i could think was, god help those people and there families.
