If it comes back let hope it doesn't become something it isn't. It has to keep its distinctive character. They need to keep the music, the style, davina, marcus all of those sort of things.

Would we get bblb? would five put it on 5iver?

Basically lets just hope if does come back it isn't downgraded.

There was another reference in there tonight, Davina's opening speech in the final show I think it was.

And then there was the full 'rhyming' thing that BBLB did on it the other week in the Bob Righter sketch.

All there for a reason.

Would be nice if BB actually came back next year. On channel 5. Either next year, 2013 or 2014.

Not come back in 2012 though. The Olympics are taking over. 2014.. World Cup.

2013 would be more fitting.

However bb12 2012 sounds better.. lol

It's a good concept for a show - it'll no doubt return at some point. It managed to run for 10 years - that's a long time. Maybe after 10 years, maybe 20 - at SOME POINT it'll return, you can pretty much guarantee it.

Not after waiting another 10 years for it to return.

Maybe wait like 3 years?????

Maybe channel 5 will experiment Big Brother next year... but in a different format.. and that it doesn't last as long as 13 weeks.....

perhaps the shorter celebrity version on 5? But are celebs still want to go anywhere near it? it would be the ideal quick hit for 5. Itv has im a celeb.

The "Big Brother will get back to you" message has been used in the past on a few series as the end note quote, it was used on the end of a series of memorable quotes.

At the moment nothing is really certain, even if 5 dont license it, Endemol will keep an eye on Channel 4 viewing figures over the next few years and re-offer it if C4 cant fill the void.

Oh by the way Beasty, I will take you up on that wager(#22).

The format will keep going for many years. It invented the reality tv we're practically forced to watch all the time.
I remember Simon Cowell slagging the show off after Dermot moved to X Factor, saying Dermot shouldn't do both as X Factor is a much bigger show. Maybe with recent viewing figures, but Big Brother led the way for Simon to do Pop Idol and everything so...

But Big Brother as we know it is definitely gone. No matter how many years time it returns, who's presenting it, where it's set etc it will be very different.

I can see channel 5 taking their own Big Brother-esque show for next summer, but not the brand BB specifically. A bit like Shattered or Unanimous that was on a few years ago.

They claim since CBB5 it just hasn't been as dramatic because of Ofcom complaints which is why I laughed during the highlights part when Marcus Bentley addressed Ofcom at BB's funeral lol

Ofcom is the killer of British TV, look what it did to BB and what it's doing to Eastenders!

Ofcoms days and power are numbered.

As more transmitting stations self regulate and society becomes more relaxed in its general attitudes to swearing etc, they will have find themselves under increasing pressure to validate their own existance.

I noticed Brian Dowling's eulogy was hauntingly similar to the BBLB Bob Righter riddle....

That's pretty much it. Mary Whitehouse lives on under the guise of Ofcom. *Shudders*

It's a cheap format, all they have to do is pay for music rights, food and utilities. Big Brother is the least expensive show to produce and it also brings in good ratings, not just in England but world wide. That's why Big Brother is GLOBAL.

Big Brother will undoubtedly return very soon. I think they'll probably take off this upcoming 2011 year, though and bring it back on C5 for 2012.

Why don't Channel 5 mix it up and instead of doing it in England, go and do the show in a huge logging cabin somewhere where it is snowing, make it different lol...

I would like to believe that belief........Sadly I think you are a million miles off beam with such a hope.......Ofcom will have more and more control over what we are allowed. Religious addicted Governments will make sure of that......The spirit of Mary whitehouse lives on and will continue to haunt the principles of free choice........

CH5 might well make an attempt at BB. However i believe such an attempt is doomed to failure......CH5 don't have a sister channel for airing long hours of live feed........Vital for BB to remain interesting........Probably wont have BBLB or BBBM or if they do the formats will be mutilated.......Probable won't have Davina as I don't think she would risk her reputation as a BB presenter with CH5 and its limited ability to broadcast long hours of the show......

BB without the traditional face and personality of Davina and Marcus cannot have the same appeal........CH5 is more likely to deplete BB's popularity and as such no other broadcaster including CH4 would touch it ever again.......

So what are FIVER and FIVEUSA?

Bearing in mind fiveusa actually kicks over to supercasino(uk) for a few hours overnight. In fact lets look at Saturday night on FiveUSA: US pap shows till 1AM then Supercasino till 4AM then the jewellery channel at 6AM sunday morning, reverting to USA shows at midday sunday.

FIVER simply kicks over to Teleshopping when they have nothing on. The owners simply have to compare the revenue received for rebro of teleshopping cahnnels against revenue from BB phonelines etc. (no competition if its done properly).

Channel 5 has the same ability to transmit the show with roughly the same hours as Channel 4/E4 did.
