DAVINA'S IN BIG BOTHER WITH HER HUSBAND
May 23 2003
She crashes beloved car
PREGNANT Big Brother host Davina McCall crashed her husband's car yesterday - and claimed he was more worried about the motor.
Davina, 35, pranged the car on a bollard as she left her home in Surrey yesterday morning.
She wasn't hurt but admitted she had pretended to be at hospital to avoid a row when she phoned her husband Matthew Robertson to tell him about the smash.
Davina is due to give birth to her second child in September and begins hosting Big Brother 4 tonight.
Yesterday, speaking to Radio 1 presenter Chris Moyles, she said: "I phoned Matthew to say I was really sorry but I'd hit a bollard.
"The first thing he said was, `Is my car all right?' I said, `Hang on. I'm in a state of shock here at the A&E department and all you can think about is the car'."
Davina then admitted to Moyles that she had been unhurt in the crash and had not gone to hospital.
But her day of driving disaster was not over.
Three hours after the prang, she managed to lock herself out of the same car and needed to call out a breakdown service.
She told Moyles from her mobile phone: "I've called for help and I'm waiting for a friendly man to get me into the car.
"This car is my husband's pride and joy and if I smashed a window to get in he'd never forgive me."
Davina and Pet Rescue presenter Matthew married in September 2001 and have a 20- month-old daughter, Holly Willow,
In the interview with Moyles, Davina revealed she already knows the identity of the 12 contestants entering the Big Brother house tonight.
She refused to say who they were but added: "This time they've let me in on who is on the show.
"They told me four or five days ago, the longest I've known before a series so far. I'm going to do them good and not tell anyone. You'll have to wait and see."
Meanwhile, bookies are tipping BB4 to be the first reality TV show to generate a £1million- plus betting turnover.
William Hill's Graham Sharpe said: "Interest in TV reality shows is at an all- time high following the latest I'm A Celebrity show.
"With Big Brother the unrivalled market leader for betting on such shows, all records are set to be broken."
William Hill are offering odds of 4/7 on a male win and 5/4 on a female win.
They are also quoting odds of 11/10 that no one will walk out of the show and 4/1 that two or more contestants quit.
The firm also offer odds of 2/1 that a genuine fight breaks out.
