Default Gritboxes - What happened to them?

Those yellow boxes that used to be put on street corners, why don't they put them out anymore?

They do.

But some Roads do not have them.

The Councils could have funding problems
or they are putting the money eleswhere.

You can ask the Council for one on your Road.

what is a gritbox? (ignorant american)

is it like a box full of sand for when you get stuck in the snow?' that's my best guess. i might be way off. We had something similar where i grew up in Virginia. There were barrels of sand at the bottom of hills. I've never used it though, who would be dumb enuf to stop at the bottom of a hill when the roads are covered? That's a good way to get yourself killed. I never understood them.
