Default Claymore's dongle

I have something to say...

Dongles are good as a last resort to access the internet where there's no landlines. Also good for use out and about. However..

1. they use the same signals as mobile phones so signal strength can vary area to area...just like with mobiles.
2. video streaming can be very stop/start because of weak signal strength. Not great for video streaming generally at all. Frustrating usually.
3. downloading files can be very slow. And if youre on a limited allowance both downloading and video streaming can use up a lot of MBs.

But for general surfing they are usually good enough...possibly slow at certain times of day depending on area.

I used a PAYG one that was £15/30 days/3gb limit. Which is enough for a good few hours a day surfing. Thankfully, I didnt need it for long because Im a downloadaholic and it was killing me.

you say its £30 for 3 months unlimited? Wow. dont think Ive seen unlimited on a dongle before. Theyre usually very restricted. Whats the catch?

I've had two and they've both snapped in half.

I don't recommend them.

Its not a bad deal, for whats it for Ian, just tell your mate that "unlimited" isnt. Its based on what an average user would use over a month and if you go over what they consider to be "fair usage" they do impose some form of penalty.

If you read into the terms and conditions you may find something about 40Gb being a "fair amount". One other thing to make him aware of is most companies state "download" where they actually mean "transfer" so his uploads will count against the "download" total.

Thats an amazing deal.

worth having just as an extra addition to a landline internet. Just for when I'm out and about with my 10".........netbook.

Allows you to access the net when on the move using a laptop provided the provider has coverage in that area.

If you move into another house that hasnt a telephone connection it may be a few weeks before Openreach can install a phoneline, so a dongle will allow you to use the internet while you wait.

If your credit rating is pretty crap and a telephone provider wont provide you with a phone connection for a while same as above.

Yup Terry - I'm sure he wouldn't d/l loads of porn movies using it.............it's just whether it is capable of live streaming footie games using the gambling sites I think he wants.............was just checking for people's experiences, but I think £30 is a cracking offer.

He would probably struggle to stream his footy matches but be ok for a game of poker they arent as reliable as broadband through a phoneline but its definitely better than having no internet.

I notice its a t-mobile dongle you just need to check that where your mate lives has t-mobile coverage if it does id say go for it thats a cracking deal.
you can check the coverage here: http://www.t-mobile.co.uk/services/c...id=streetcheck

so c'mon the bhoys win so ian can help his mate out!!!

Yer fun bob - I'd won £200 by Barca setting a record, then lost £554 by Celtic not winning and Steelers losing - at Celtic park the bhoys will just take them out.

I bought a Scewdriver II from wicked -it's magic and will help me stop - much vapes!

PS - he lives in Central Scotland and T Mobile has excellent coverage there - I'd already checked that!
