Default What are the three scariest films you've ever seen?

Here's my three, in no particular order, and why...

Blair Witch Project: First saw this at home, alone, and in the dark which imho is the best way to watch this. For most of the film I wasn't sure if it was real or fake until the "witch" apparently cast a spell or something and made them go in circles or something. Then I knew it was all fake and wasn't as scared. But the ending still gave me chills.

Predator: It is an action and sci-fi movie but when I was 9 or 10 I considered it a horror movie and a damn good one. People's arms getting blown off, people getting skinned, and getting stalked by something you can't see are elements of a great horror movie. I've had nightmares about it when I was a kid and every now and again still do.

The Fly (1986): The only horror movie I could not watch from start to finish. The last 5 minutes or so is what really disturbs me. It no longer bugs me though.

Honorable mentions:
Jaws: the best scene imho doesn't even involve the shark and is where they're on the boat and the captain is recounting his time WW2 when the Indianapolis ship sank. It chills me even today.
The Thing (1982): The scene where they're testing everybody's blood is so freaky. I so wish I could watch this movie again and again not knowing what happens during that scene but oh well.

I never been scared from any horror films, apart from maybe the Blair Witch Project.

I was young and thought it was real Made myself believe the witch would come and kill me

I don't really enjoy horrors, I don't see the point in intentionally scaring myself.

Nevertheless: The Shining, Alien and 30 Days of Night

Horrors generally are not my thing and none have really genuinly scared me but I do admit I had to turn on the light half way through Paranormal Activity. Being in a slightly altered state of mind didn't help.

Recº and The Thing.
I saw the original Texas Chainsaw in the cinema and that freaked me out.
I think Evil Dead 2 has the most jumpy bits in it.
Sorry to say but i found both Blair Witch and Paranormal Activity was just a bit bland.
Recº is still the best hand held camcorder horror ever made.

A ton of the films mentioned i didnt find scary at all (The Orphanage, Texas chainsaw Massacre, The blair witch project, It, The Shining ect.)
But i agree with Josy with wrong turn, cause it was one of the first scary movies i ever watched and it freaked me out :S

The only films to have scared me are ones I watched as a kid but I'd probably say.

Salem's Lot - Doesn't scare me at all but it did when I was little...Those vampire children..

American Werewolf In London - This one I haven't watched since I was a kid, once was enough for me. Those dream sequences *shivers*

I'm forgetting one but there was another that i used to be terrified of when I was little.
