Same as Paul Clarke, Ray has revealed to the housemates that he had surgery to pin back his ears when he was younger - story from the official C4 site:

Caring and sharing Nush was keen to delve deep into the psyche of her fellow housemates. She kicked off the game Facts About People We Didn't Know.
The most astounding fact came from Ray. "I've had cosmetic surgery," he said baldly. When the Dubliner was 12, he had his ears pinned back because "they used to stick out like a monkey's."
Tania, who noticed the scars behind his ears, guessed at his secret. "I was going to ask you. But I thought no, I can't because it's too deep," she said tactfully.
When peace-loving Nush was a baby, she had a small lump removed from the back of her neck. "They did a biopsy and found hair and teeth," she said matter-of-factly. The boys squirmed about in a most unmanly fashion and cried "Yeucch!" in unison. Nush couldn't keep a straight face for long and confessed it wasn't true. "I've wanted to tell that story for ages."
Next up was Fed. The Celtic Casanova revealed he was taking hormone tablets and was a pre-op transsexual. But telling tall tales is second nature to the mischief-making Scot and no one was fooled. "You can tell by your face that you're lying," said a dismissive Tania.
As Jon joined the group, Cameron was at pains to explain it didn't have to be an interesting fact. The three-times survivor wasn't about to disappoint.
"We didn't get pocket money as kids, so we bred rabbits and sold them for meat," said Jon, demonstrating his early liking for cash. Maybe the data man's up to his old tricks and selling the deceased goldfish for illicit food supplies.

Maybe Paul and Ray can swop 'ear' stories if they ever meet up!
Jon - how could you . . . . . . . those poor bunnies! Why not just get a paper round?
