BioWare, a Label of Electronic Arts Inc. announced Mass Effect™ 3: Extended Cut, a downloadable content pack that will expand upon the events at the end of the critically acclaimed Action RPG. Through additional cinematic sequences and epilogue scenes, the Mass Effect 3: Extended Cut will give fans seeking further clarity to the ending of Mass Effect 3 deeper insights into how their personal journey concludes. Coming this summer, the Mass Effect 3: Extended Cut will be available for download on the Xbox 360® videogame and entertainment system, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and PC for no extra charge*.
"We are all incredibly proud of Mass Effect 3 and the work done by Casey Hudson and team," said Dr. Ray Muzyka, Co-Founder of BioWare and General Manager of EA's BioWare Label. "Since launch, we have had time to listen to the feedback from our most passionate fans and we are responding. With the Mass Effect 3: Extended Cut we think we have struck a good balance in delivering the answers players are looking for while maintaining the team's artistic vision for the end of this story arc in the Mass Effect universe." Casey Hudson, Executive Producer of the Mass Effect series added, "We have reprioritized our post-launch development efforts to provide the fans who want more closure with even more context and clarity to the ending of the game, in a way that will feel more personalized for each player." The Mass Effect franchise is one of the most highly decorated series in the history of games, having earned over 250 awards from critics around the world. Mass Effect 3 launched last month to universal critical acclaim, receiving over 75 perfect scores. Will be interesting to see how they approach it. It's hard to tell if this'll actually fix the problems people have with the ending.
At least they have the decency to make it free. |

Yeah, I'm glad they're not changing the ending, they should be forced to change it. Extending it however is good.

So it's true, BioWare really is bringing additional races and classes to the Mass Effect 3 multiplayer. Folks, I give you the "Resurgence Pack," a free multiplayer add-on coming next week, April 10. Those clever Canadians hinted at the new content just yesterday when "Operation: Beachhead" was announced, effectively creating much debate in the community as players argued over the validity of old multiplayer rumors. Batarians and geth are the new races on the block, remaining within the realm of existing classes, as seen in the above image. But how exactly do subclasses like Justicar and Battlemaster work? Well, every character will have their own "unique abilities and loadouts," BioWare says on their blog. So while Adept and Vanguard are existing classes, the Justicar and Battlemaster will likely come with special skills exclusive to their subclass. Even though the asari racial is already "Asari Justicar," and all. Does that make the new Adept twice the Justicar? In addition to the playable characters, Resurgence also introduces two more maps (finally) and three new weapons, because one can never have too many SMGs. Let's start with the new guns. There is indeed a new SMG, but it's a geth item, so that might make up for it. Most intriguing of the bunch might be the Kishock Harpoon Gun, because who wouldn't want a futuristic harpoon? |

The free Multiplayer content's cool. Companies need to release more free DLC. I definitely want to play as a Geth and a Justicar.
I like the Multiplayer mode from what I've played of it, I just wish unlocking new things weren't based on luck. I want to play as a Drell godamnit. |

The Extended Cut came out, and apparently the endings are still terrible.

The endings were never terrible in the first place, it's just people couldn't deal with the fact that it isnt what they wanted, the new endings are even better imo as they make it clear that this isnt the end of the franchise. All this whinging is just typical of modern gamers, they want everything made to suit what they want, screw everyone else.

It's probably good if you just wanted more fleshed out versions of the existing endings, so it doesn't end so abruptly. But that's the least of the problems the endings have. The last half an hour or so of that game completely undermines everything in the series up to that point. They took the best crafted sci-fi universe in gaming, and decided to end a hundred odd hour adventure with space magic BS that in no way fits the fiction.
It's even more frustrating when you read about how it was originally going to end. If only the idiots who got the leaked scripted didn't bitch and moan about it, maybe we wouldn't be in this situation and series would have gotten the ending it deserved. At least one that made sense. |

There's a lot more to it than simply "it's not what I wanted ![]() Maybe you're fine with how it ended, but for those who took the fiction seriously those last few minutes of the game was a giant middle finger to us. Of course people are going to complain, and of course they have a right to. People invested hundreds of hours into this series, into this fiction, as well as a hundred odd pounds/dollars and they delivered an incredibly unsatisfying conclusion that wasn't anywhere near the level of quality of the rest of the series. Simple as that. Last edited by Samuel.; 27-06-2012 at 08:43 AM. |

I just watched the low Galactic Readiness destroy ending, it's also completely different from the rest, which means there is now five completely different sorts of endings.
These new endings are fantastic IMO |

I'm glad they changed this too, much more fitting
![]() Also, the catalyst conversation is MASSIVELY expanded on, you can argue with it and tell it that it is wrong, it is also made clear that it's an AI that in the end turned on it's original creators and independantly decided that the Reaper's would be it's solution, it's most definately wrong, since it's creators didn't want to be Reaper's either. Another thing, the whole galactic readiness is expanded on, in my ending, Shepard didn't survive, because the Crucible had been damaged. A lot of stuff is now explained.
