I remember the song was very sombre for a sitcom.

But, my mum always watched it in the 90s so I have some memories of it. I remember them being locked in a garage or parking area and the chubby one tried to eat the car seat.

indeed they are - but its not the same as it wont be the real people just actors reading the script <

That doesn't make sense. Of course it's actors.
The stage play is being performed by the same actors as the TV series.
