Default Helen\'s column in Western Mail

Noticed the other day that my newsagent sells copies of the Western Mail - so this morning I just had to buy a copy so I could read Helen's first beauty column. There's a small photo of her wearing her Welsh Girl tee shirt. The column is entitled Blinkin' beautiful ....... with Helen Adams.

So for anyone who is itnerested here's Helen's insight.

Hey, beauty fans, welcome to my new column! Every week I will be looking at one beauty product at a time, from mascara to miracle skin cures, and scouring the market for the absolute best … . so you can always look your best!

I’m kicking off in style this week with one of my favourite cosmetics: lipgloss!

A good lipgloss is so important. It has to be not too sticky or dry, a flattering, subtle colour, it has to make your pout your best feature and best of all, stay put!

I’ve spent the week trying and testing glosses in the most thorough way: the gym, eating, drinking …. and of course, kissing! Well, you’ve got to give a gloss a thorough workout, haven’t you?

And the winners? Here they are.

 My absolute winner, by far, is Stila Lipglaze (£18). This was twice as shiny as any other I found and the colours are lovely. My fave is watermelon, a wear-anywhere shade, but try grapefruit too. They taste great, stay on th rough the whole day and, best of all, there’s no waste as it comes in a click-up wand, so there’s no scooping around in a messy tube and no need for a lipbrush. Good value for money, gorgeous to look at = perfect!
 Revlon’s Glosslights for Lips (7.49) is my second place. In four shades, you have to try the pinky ones: Amethyst and rose quartz, they’re so flattering and sexy. A littly like Lancome’s fabulous Juicy Tubes of a couple of years ago, this is a shiny gloss, with tiny flecks of glitter. Comes in a tube and there’s no icky stickiness either!
 Bobbi Brown Liptint SPF15 (£13) – choose this in tea rose for a hint of warm colour, either on its own or over your favourite lippie. The best thing though, apart from the SPF of course, is that this gloss actually makes your lips tingle when you apply it! It’s got mint conditioners in it, and feels amazing!

Final word I was very impressed by the standards of today’s glosses - no more gloop! – but can’t speak too highly of our winner!

Next Week – Mascara.

Wonder which section of the testing she enjoyed most?

Thanks for posting that Rach. My newsagent had the audacity to sell out of the Western Mail before I could get there this week - think he only gets about three copies anyway, but its the principle.

My goodness RoB, poor Mr. Clarke he'll never live it down if his workmates see that!

He still manages to look rather fetching in an Eddie Izard sort of way though!

Poor Paul - what he has to put up with in the name of love. At least this week they spelt his surname correctly.

Next week it's face masks - wonder if he got roped into trying those out. Would love to see the pictures of that!

At least now we know what she wants for Christmas.
