Default US articles on Situation entering the House

If you're a U.S. fan of the reality series Big Brother, you've probably wondered what a celebrity version would look like. Well, that's a common occurrence in the U.K. and today marked the start of the 10th edition of Celebrity Big Brother in England.

While the pool of houseguests includes a large number of random British celebrities American audiences have probably never heard of, there are two fairly recognizable U.S. reality TV stars. Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino from Jersey Shore and former Bachelor star Prince Lorenzo Borghese are both contestants in the British reality competition this season.

Sorry ladies, but that means the shores of New Jersey will be Situation-less for the foreseeable future. But it won't be for too long. The celebrity editions are less than a month long, which is probably the only way they could get celebrities onto the show.

Given how boring the live feeds have become for the U.S.'s Big Brother 14, knowing that The Situation is burning up the British version is enough to make you a little jealous.

If the British version can get The Situation, surely a U.S. version of Big Brother could get comparable stars. I wouldn't expect George Clooney or anything, but anyone good enough for Dancing with the Stars is good enough for a Celebrity Big Brother.

What do you think of The Situation on the U.K.'s Celebrity Big Brother 10? Could a celebrity version work in the U.S. and would you be more likely to buy the live feeds if you knew celebrities were on them?

Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino has just joined the cast of Celebrity Big Brother 2012. The Jersey Shore star known for his fantastic abs is on his way to conquering the overseas reality TV market with his latest appearance. The premiere episode of Celebrity Big Brother aired tonight in the United Kingdom and fans were shocked to see him enter the house — it was completely unexpected.

Mike was the first surprise guest to enter the house and as expected, his first move was a quick ab flash for the cameras. Would you expect anything less from Sitch? Just minutes later, Mike was brought right into the middle of the drama when his new roommate Cheryl tells him that she absolutely hates their other roommate, Julie, because she had an affair with her ex. Here we go…

After meeting the rest of his roommates, many were left wondering who Mike is and why he’s called “The Situation.” Although Jersey Shore does air in the UK (months after it airs in the US), they have their own spin-off titled Geordie Shore, so Mike isn’t the phenomenon in the UK that he is here.

Mike 'The Situation' Sorrentino Travels Across the Pond for 'Celebrity Big Brother UK'

Upon its live premiere, which is currently airing in the UK, Celebrity Big Brother Series 10 has officially announced its housemates.

Mike 'The Situation' Sorrentino will be among the celebrities that will be staying in the Big Brother house.

Celebrity Big Brother UK is a British reality television game show in which a number of celebrity contestants live in an isolated house, trying to avoid being evicted by the public with aim of winning a large cash prize that will be donated to the winner's nominated charity at the end of the show.

The show is not only award-winning, but also the UK's most famous and controversial reality series. The show proved to be a enormous ratings winner, with six million people tuning in. In the United States, six million might sound small, but in the UK it's a truly massive audience.

For those of you that don't know much about the show, the concept is simple- 12 strangers (in this case, celebrities) live together for up to three weeks in a luxury house in the outskirts of London, complete with a gym, sauna, garden, and swimming pool. There are cameras everywhere in the house, except in the showers and toilets, and housemates are required to wear a microphone at all times.

All housemates are stripped of their cellphones, computers, books, magazines, etc. and are completely cut off from the outside world. They have zero access to family and friends. They also share a kitchen in which they cook for themselves, a bedroom which resembles a dorm room, and a living area. They are not allowed to leave the house for three weeks unless they are evicted.

Sitch is extremely thankful and very excited to have the chance to be a part of this once-in-a-lifetime experience!

Just weeks after Michael Phelps made history at the London Olympics, Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino and his equally sculpted abs have splashed their way onto English TV.

The Jersey Shore star has joined the cast of Britain's Celebrity Big Brother. Like the American version, the show revolves around a bunch of people who are forced to live in an isolated home together. Only in this case, the house is filled with celebrities, and the winner must donate the cash prize to charity.

This season marks the 10th time a group of slightly recognizable stars with very large personalities have battled it out on the show. Joining The Situation in the house is former Bachelor star Prince Lorenzo Borghese, an Olympic judo master, and a handful of British celebs most Americans have never heard of.

Nearly 3 million people watched the season premiere on August 15. In comparison, 7.6 million Americans tuned in to Jersey Shores' season 5 premiere in January. That said, the United States' population is roughly six times greater than England's. So if you break it down per capita, Brits are clearly more interested in The Sitch's abs than the numbers would suggest.

Will The Situation survive without his fellow Jersey Shore stars around? England certainly isn't the best country in the world to work on your tan. But seeing as he survived his stay in Italy, we doubt he'll have much trouble staying pent up in a house for a few weeks.

Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino has already taken over American TV — so with that in mind, he has apparently set his sights on the world of the United Kingdom.

Earlier this week, it was revealed that the “Jersey Shore” star made the decision to enter the “Celebrity Big Brother” house — a place that has included a variety of people in past seasons such as Michael Madsen and former “X Factor” castoff Frankie Cocozza. This time around, there are not too many other names that American audiences are going to be familiar with, but he will be competing against Olympian Ashley McKenzie, several actresses from British television, and controversial journalist Samantha Brink.

For The Situation, we are betting that this move is largely business-related. He knows that the “Jersey Shore” is popular overseas (so much so that they have their own version now in “Geordie Shore,” and he probably sees this as an opportunity to build upon his fan base. He is certainly no stranger to reality TV on other networks, having appeared in the past on such shows as “Dancing with the Stars” (where he failed to impress after missing a good bit of rehearsal time due to filming his MTV show) and “The Choice” earlier this summer on Fox.

Jersey Shore star Mike 'The Situation' Sorrentino is among the 2012 Celebrity Big Brother 10 cast. "He is there," a rep for the MTV reality star confirms to Examiner.com referring to the reality show now filming in England.

The Situation was revealed as the surprise US celebrity on the UK's edition of Celebrity Big Brother late Wednesday night. Mike recently tweeted that he was in London, but other than there were no leaks that Mike was cast on Celebrity Big Brother 10. This is now the third reality show The Situation has appeared on following Jersey Shore and Dancing With the Stars.
