my son goes to school on a bicycle and I have notices he is wearing his shoes very fast. The leather section or top part is always in good shape but the soles are warring at an alarming rate. Is this linked to peddling to school or is there another reason I need to consider to slow the ware?

 It sounds to me like your son has sold his bike and is walking to school. My guess is that he bought sweets with the money he made from selling the bike, the little rascal.
