Julie is in danger of becoming irrelevant to a new generation. Her last Corrie appearance was awhile ago and not really a success.

Hey presto shes made a name for herself by being duplicitous crude untrustworthy and bitchy. Why not play up to that. People thinks shes an awful demanding rude diva anyway.

Julie in BB is now up there with danica and michael as most talked about.

Her panto fee will increase as shes relevant and in focus once more. This may not be PC but unlike age contemporary or 50+ older actors (Harrison Ford, Sean Connery, Colin Firth, Morgan Freeman, Alec Baldwin etc) shes too old to be a sex symbol* or ingenue. On UK TV only older 50+ males have got series eg Simon Cowell, John Thaw (RIP), David Jason, Martin Clunes, Gary Lineker etc). Cilla Black struggles to make a comeback as has Ferne Briton and that older female sued BBC for age discrimination. Caroline Quentin has moaned acting roles have dried up and Amanda Burton said she had to lobby for her Waterloo Road role.

Once women get to 50+ they can be bitchy and get away with it eg Anne Robinson, Sharon Osbourne, Joan Rivers etc. Its not as if she will do a photoshoot in Nuts or land a part as a sexy police detrctive in a new ITV drama. The main way women her age can be visible - sadly - is bitching and besmirching. Cutting commrnts and duplicity are accepted once a woman is no longer at an age where shes judged on her sexual allure.


The Downton Abbey character played by Dame Maggie Smith gets brilliantly cutting one-liners that would never go to younger actress/ character.

Joey Im not being clever, but THIS is Julie, this is how she has always been ,if you are "over 29" as I am ,you remember all the bad press she got, a truly awful human being

You could be on to something there. Although by all accounts, Julie is/was well known for being difficult and a diva on set. I have seen her out around Manchester a few times (years ago) and she was rude and stand offish if anyone approached her so think she is pretty much being herself. Spiteful, vindictive and pretty damn nasty.

I loved her to begin with but the more I have watched the more my dislike has grown

She is well known for being rude and ignorant, the"I love you all" is such an act,I bet if any of the old Corrie folk are watching they will be spitting feathers

The press are know far making people look bad and Julie has a right to go out and enjoy herself with out being harrassed by fans.

She's given many people joy with her TV roles that doesn't make her public property guys.

Also notice how I can stick up for Julie without getting personal with other members, speaks volumes

I agree with the theme of your post, these sort of women can become bitchy and Diva like once past 50. However I have never had a problem with that, it's the way Mrs Goodyear presents herself to the watching world.

She is a terrible advert for the middle aged women, unkempt, dirty looking, rough, foul mouthed, badly dressed, badly groomed etc....

Her interpersonal skills are sadly lacking and any one liners tend to be of the "toilet humour" type. The woman has no class or charisma. People mostly laugh at her not with her, she is making the biggest fool of herself on national TV.

So what if she wins, so what if she is playing a good game. People will remember her as a sad old rude foul mouthed ex actress.

No Joan Collins or Maggie Smith that's for sure....

she's 70, I doubt she really gives a **** what people think about her or has big plans to invigorate her career at this stage by being nasty/controversial, she's just there for the experience
