Feeling more like an Apprentice team than a group of people sent to their likely deaths, Pete, Iris, Harry and Kara climbed into the back of an armored police van and sat in silence for their journey. The harrowing ev ents of three days ago still rang true in their heads, and had left Iris visibly shaken. All colour seemed to have drained from her, and she spent the whole time staring at the floor. The other three noticed this and Kara extended a hug, which she reluctantly accepted.

The van pulled up outside a derelict mansion in the midst of a cold, dark and fairly foggy countryside.

"This one's for all of ya," the driver announced, as he unlocked the doors and let the foursome out. "You're to split up, though," he shrugged, not remotely comfortable with the premise of these investigations.

Harry and Iris decided to take the west wing of the mansion; Harry taking the first floor, and Iris exploring the ground. This left Kara and Pete the east wing - considerably more intact and furnished than the other side. The four solemnly went their separate ways, too numb to make any kind of sentimental farewell or light joke.

Harry reached the top of the west wing and came to a vast, empty bedroom.

He tapped repeatedly against his pockets, desperate to use his phone to take pictures, but had been forced to leave all gadgets other than those given to the four back at headquarters. Instead, he shone a flashlight to the far corners of the room, not really making anything out other than cobwebs and cracks. He could hear footsteps from below and was half-relieved to hear that Iris was still okay, before the thought of that sunk in and made him fear for his own chances. He left the room and walked into an accompanying bathroom.

Downstairs, meanwhile, Kara was sorting through one of the kitchens. She found an old brick wall through the archway and noticed that some of the bricks were missing. Taking this to suggest that some kind of clue was behind the wall, she searched around for a strong item to bash at the wall with.

Upstairs, about to turn on a light switch, Pete suddenly heard a shuffle behind him. He bolted inside the room, pulling the switch, and slamming the door shut. He took a look around.

Comparatively homely to the rest of the mansion, he breathed a sigh of relief and walked towards the desk, taking note of the creaks as he stepped. Not counting on the Killer to be as silent as he feared, he was thus taken by surprise when a strong pair of hands grabbed his neck and slashed at it with a small, concealed blade. Pete gargled and stumbled as blood streamed from his neck and stained the oak of the desk in front of him and then felt another stab to his abdomen. He began to collapse, before the Killer caught him mid-fall and placed him quietly on the floor, letting the blood flow kill him slowly. Pete tried to call to warn the others, but could make no words, and eventually breathed no more.

Quite unaware of the brutal murder going on upstairs, Iris wandered around quite listlessly in what she assumed was once a lounge.

She lingered around awhile and shone her flashlight at the walls, noticing a large section of them to be paint peeling, and, taking care not to trip over the discarded debris, made her way towards a wall at the end of the room. Noticing some writing beneath a picture-frame, she lifted it and noticed the words "MAPLE LEAFS" scrawled on the plaster. She placed the frame down and, taking this to be a clue, made for the door when she heard an almighty crash not far away.

Harry was frustrated with his lack of discovery and made his way over into the east wing, concluding that all clues were to be found here. Unsure whether or not he'd like to bump into Pete, Harry opened one of the bedroom doors and cast his eyes upon a large oak bed, before his flashlight fell upon the soaking-red corpse of Pete. Harry uttered an appalled cry, before running back out of the door and towards the stairwell, when he heard the crash below. He bolted for the stairs, hesitating to make sure he wouldn't run into someone, and shone his light into the hallway. He was sure he could make out a woman's figure in the distance, but decided he wasn't really in the mood for a tearful reconciliation with Iris or Kara, and ran for the front door.

Kara, having picked away at the bricks, and noticing that each one taken away resulted in a little uncomfortable shake, took care with which part of the structure she was hacking away at, and decided to take regular peeps through the gaps at the writing behind this wall. After having removed 10 or 11 bricks, she could make out the word "Gotcha", and felt someone shove her into the bricks, before the figure unveiled a large hammer. The killer struck Kara's forehead with it, before throwing caution to the wind and demolishing a large part of the walls around her. The crashes alerted someone upstairs and, hearing a nother detective upstairs, the Killer ran for cover, before the walls around the kitchen caved and Kara's half-conscious body was showered with brick after brick. The sheer weight of the debris crushed poor Kara, and left her the Killer's second victim.

Outside, Harry waited impatiently for any survivors and was a little bit mortified to find that the only one to emerge from the front entrance was Iris, the figure he'd spotted in the distance. She ran forwards, a little animated now after her earlier silence, and told him of her discovery. He remained unconvinced, and climbed back into the van with her, taking care not to lay his eyes off of her. Iris wasn't too fond either.

So... the outcome of this is we have two survivors: Harry and Iris. But who's Mollie and who's JH95, and are either of them the Killer?

Now. As I mentioned at the start of the game, there will be a Stab in the Dark after the second and fourth tasks

Detectives, you have until midnight tomorrow to PM me the name of who you think the Killer is. I shan't disclose anything else until Sunday. If you fail to PM me before this deadline I will deign your vote to be for yourself. You are not permitted to discuss your decision.
