Default Now in Admin : Comet Electrical Stores: more than 6,000 jobs at risk

http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology...oods-jobs-risk

"More than 6,000 jobs are at risk as the troubled high-street electricals chain Comet teeters on the edge of administration.
Comet, the UK's second largest electrical specialist after Dixons, has struggled to make headway as supermarkets and online retailers such as Amazon targeted the cut-throatmarket, and could go into administration as soon as Today. It is estimated to have made a loss of £35m in the year to 30 April. In a sign of the toughness of the market US giant Best Buy pulled out of the UK last year after struggling to gain a foothold."

I thought they would soon go

As if you go in with a Amazon Print out
they can not match it.

I always found other electrical stores to be more superior

But it's sad to see Amazon killing them off..and Christmas is coming

I think it's sad, not good news at all but it's a sign of the times I guess.

"Comet is owned by OpCapita,
which bought it for just £2 less than
a year ago from Kesa Electricals as
it struggled to compete against
strong supermarket and online competition."

Yes Amazon and
Play.com now owned by a Japan firm
both sell cheaper than shop prices
All 2nd sellers on Play.com are Free Post
but Amazon some 2nd sellers charge postage.

Supply Companies would Allow Comet 30 days to pay them
But this week they told Comet to Pay Up Front.

So some Comets do not have the Latest
Hi Tech Tablets.

This has been on the cards for months it appears.

It went into Admin last night.

One Store could not take Credit Cards.
thbe system was blocked by Admin.

"Comet offically enters administration,
stores re-open for expected firesale
Comet is preparing for a firesale of its stock
in an attempt to quickly
raise funds after administrators
were officially appointed to
the electricals retailer, confirming the
most high-profile high street failure
since the collapse of Woolworths. "

Amazon is amazing whatever you want ...they got it and alot of the stuff is delivered next day...

such a shame to see Comet go... Argo shutting shops...the high street is going to be a different place in the future.

nearly all these retail stores will either collapse or reduce in size ...the internet knows no boundaries, the world is becoming a world of 6 billion small business men and women all of whom have phenomenal range of choices for everything worldwide...any firm who doesnt actively recognize that (like the great woolworths or comet) is doomed , period
