During normal general and local elections all candidites get a free mailout for to all constituents allowing them to spell out their campaign promises. Unfortunately there has not been a mailout for this election. There has been a massive television campaign though, surely you've seen at least one ad? And you could Google your candidates, couldn't you?

Sadly because some people haven't had a leaflet put into their hands they're not going to bother voting. It looks like the turnout for this election is going to be about 20%.

No, I understand that. But you spend a large proportion of your time on the Internet, it makes me wonder why you couldn't Google your local candidates. It would take you seconds. You've seen the national ads, you knew it was happening. I don't understand why you'd make a thread about something you have no interest in, and have no intention of voting.

Oh I see. Well, you hadn't actually made that point, so I didn't miss it. Your point was that you weren't voting because you hadn't had any information and didn't know who the candidates were.

I think you'll find more elderly people will vote than younger people. It's the way it is all over the country. More elderly people belong to a particular political party than younger people do and would therefore have been sent information by their own political candidate. Also, many more older people vote by post and by proxy, so they would have been contacted by their local electoral services people weeks ago.
