Sex toy purchases in Canada have notably risen this autumn.

In Edmonton, Alberta, the Hush Lingerie and More store - which sells sex toys, sex games and lingerie - claims that sales have risen by around 15% over the last month.

Shop owner Vinay Morker has put the increase down to the NHL lockout, as all November games have been cancelled.

He told the Toronto Sun: "We'd be gearing up for [the hockey] now, but there's nothing, so I guess we need to find some better ways to spend our time.

"When [Edmonton] Oilers fans, mostly guys, have to break their routine of seeing every game, they have more time. And there's nothing better than spending it with your spouse or girlfriend."

Tease Adult Boutique owner Hal Roseberg agreed, stating: "I suppose that's one of the [reasons] it's as busy as it is - there's no hockey."
