Stadium stars Coldplay have told fans that they will take a three year break from 'big' live performances at the end of their current tour.

Frontman Chris Martin told fans at their Brisbane concert this week: "This is the last big show for three years or so.

"I don't want to stop."

The band have been on their Mylo Xyloto tour since April and have played at venues across Europe, North America and Australia. The tour is set to wrap up with a series of shows in Latin America in February.

The band also recently announced that they would play a special New Year's Eve concert at the Barclays Brooklyn Centre with Jay-Z.

Some fans might be shocked by the news of the break, after the band revealed they were already working on material for the sixth studio album. Martin has promised the next release with have an easier title to say than 2011's Mylo Xyloto.

"The next one we're releasing is much easier to pronounce," he told Australian radio station 2DayFM.

But the singer was evasive when pressed on the actual title of the album. "I can't tell you that!" he exclaimed when asked.

He then asked the band's guiatrist Johnny Buckland, "Can I give a hint?", but Buckland shook his head.

In October the band announced they would be exhibiting original artwork from Mylo Xyloto at London's Proud Galleries for charity, with some select pieces even being available to buy.

All of the money raised is to be donated to the Kids Company Charity.
