A man has been sentenced after terrorising local residents with a dildo.

Ian Poulton from Wellington, Shropshire drew the attention of 15 police officers who were armed and wearing bulletproof vests, reports SWNS.

The incident happened in Telford when authorities mistakenly believed that the man had a gun tucked in his trousers when he was simply carrying a dildo.

Poulton, 33, admitted in court that he deliberately used the sex toy to deceive everyone.

The judge told Poulton: "It was clearly not a gun, be it imitation or real. It was an entirely innocent object. It was the defendant's intention to deceive.

"Witnesses thought it was a firearm so he has to take the consequences."

Poulton was jailed for five years. He also confessed to assaulting a neighbour and causing damage to a police vehicle.
