Since CBB10 ended, 5's performance has been pretty dire, getting all day viewing shares ranging from 2.5-3.5%. Yes, we all can say that it's Big Brother overkill, but it's the main show that gets them their figures. For example, these where the ratings for 5 last night:
Meanwhile, World's Strongest Man (665k/2.8%) and Cowboy Builders (582k/2.4%) could only muster meagre numbers on Channel 5.
They had a 2.4% average (+1= 0.2%). It's pretty clear to see that, even if figures are down on last January's CBB, they will be a needed boost.

Big Brother and CBB are without a doubt two of Channel 5's highest rating shows.

But the thing is if Ch 5 gave bb the full treatment, thrown in the live feed experience, and made the main show a more viewer friendly show, then it would easily achieve another couple of hundred thousand viewers.

Normal bb would get like around 2.1million
And Cbb probably 2.6mil or maybe nearer 3.

But then they ruined their progress with CBB10

As much as it seems like overkill, BB is definitely C5's breadwinner, so it would serve them well to treat it as such.

Yeah I get what you mean, it would be a success for any channel despite the ratings varing.
