I thought his contribution was good enough, obviously with it being his first season at United Shinji need time to settle in at the club and get used to United's style of play, linking up with his team mates and also the style of Football in the Premier League/England in general.

He has improved and I am excited for his potential next season!
He had an okay season in the end, imo. Has improved in the last several weeks. Was a big step up coming to a physical league like the Premier League with his build.

I still think all this Rooney speculation is bull**** and he will stay.

Of course football is unpredictable and you can never rule anything out, but he does not strike me as the type of person who would want to play abroad.

He and Coleen are home birds who are very close to their families, plus they have a young son and a newborn on the way and Wayne has always said that he wants to retire at United.

I do think he will be revitalised in the Summer with a break and raring to go next season. I could not see Rooney getting used to a new culture etc.

Jonny Evans sees a bright future for Manchester United

Quote:

Jonny Evans can see a bright future ahead for Manchester United, highlighting the potent blend of youth and experience in the dressing-room.

Evans believes the memories of this season's title triumph will prove the catalyst for more success.

"We've got a lot of experience and players who are maturing at the right time," he told the club website.

"The first title just makes you more hungry. You experience that feeling and you don't want anyone else to have it.

"You develop a selfishness and a determination to experience that feeling again and again. It's a great motivation for everyone."

"You have to look forward. That's one of the great things about the manager - he is looking forward regardless of whether we win or lose the league."

Evans is happy to acknowledge the phenomenal impact of Robin van Persie - and not just in the goal-scoring stakes.

"Robin has been absolutely fantastic," he added. "His work-rate and finishing ability are phenomenal.

"He wants to score goals and he's disappointed when he doesn't even when we get the points.

"He's got a bit of an aura about him and has settled in brilliantly. You can tell by the way he plays and his whole demeanour that he is really enjoying things here.

"He came here because of his respect for the philosophy of the club and it's paid off for him."

B]Manchester United chief David Gill warns City to expect summer transfer battle[/B]

Quote:
United’s chief executive warned that Sir Alex Ferguson intends to strengthen the squad which clinched a record 20th title on Monday when the transfer window opens ahead of the new season

David Gill has told City to expect a fierce scrap in this summer’s transfer market – less than 24 hours after United won the battle for the Premier League crown.

United’s chief executive warned that Sir Alex Ferguson intends to strengthen the squad which clinched a record 20th title on Monday when the transfer window opens ahead of the new season.

Roberto Mancini is also certain to splash out in a bid to win back the trophy he won in 2012, leaving United and City to fight it out for some of the world’s biggest stars like Radamel Falcao, Gareth Bale and Robert Lewandowski.

Gill is expecting City to spend big this summer but has vowed to meet fire with fire.

“I’m sure they’ll come back,” said Gill, who will leave his job at the end of the season.

“They’ve got some ambitious plans on their investment and their academy. That’s what the excitement of the Premier League is.

“I’m sure all the clubs who missed out this season will be doing business in the summer – as we will be – with a view to come back all guns blazing next year.”

Gill also risked infuriating what he called ‘a small number of dissenters’ opposed to the Glazer family’s ownership by praising their impact at Old Trafford.

And he insisted the Glazers had a proven track record of backing Fergie in the transfer market.

“There are still a small number of dissenters and they will always be there and they have had long held views which they are not going to change,” added Gill, who will be replaced by executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward.

“We respect those. Ultimately, someone has to own the club. I think (the Glazers) have definitely demonstrated that since they have taken over, they have shown that what happens on the pitch is crucial to the club’s ambitions off it.

“They are very mindful of the traditions and the history of the club and people. Clearly if you own an asset and it comes up with winning a 20th title, it’s unbelievable.”

Nothing can stop Sir Alex Ferguson, says Sir Bobby Charlton

Quote:
United legend Sir Bobby Charlton cannot bear to even contemplate Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement as the Reds manager celebrates his 13th Premier League title.

United legend Sir Bobby Charlton cannot bear to even contemplate Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement as the Reds manager celebrates his 13th Premier League title.

The 75-year-old insists that thoughts will have already turned to retaining their crown next season.

“Alex will already be planning next year,” said Charlton.

“As soon as we won against Villa, his thoughts will have been on next year.

“We’ve got quite a busy tour of Asia and Australia in the summer and then when they come back from that it will be the start of the campaign to win the league again and who is to stop him?”

Ferguson, 71, has flirted with retirement in the past but shows no sign of calling it a day at the moment having clocked up 26 years at Old Trafford.

“He never talks about it and I wouldn’t deem to talk about it myself, really,” said Charlton.

“What I want is for it to continue the way it is at the moment.

“But we all get older and Alex will get older, the decision will be made and it will be a sensational performance because he has a great talent for winning.”

One legend praising the other.

Reds announce BIDV deal

Quote:
• Club’s first financial services agreement in Vietnam
• United’s total financial services agreements cover 256 million followers across 12 countries

(NYSE:MANU) English Premier League champions Manchester United have today announced a five-year partnership with Vietnamese bank BIDV.

BIDV, which stands for Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam, was established in 1957 and is one of the top three banks in the country with an annual turnover of over $200 million and employing almost 18,000 people.

The new agreement will see BIDV offer some of United’s 26.5 million followers in Vietnam the bank’s first affinity credit card. The BIDV Manchester United Credit Card will come with an array of attractive benefits including United prize draws, giveaways and special club discounts. BIDV will also introduce a Manchester United debit card early next season to reach out further to the fan base and diversify the product portfolio.

Manchester United commercial director Richard Arnold comments:

"Vietnam is a very important country for Manchester United. The club is lucky enough to have a large and very passionate set of fans there, with some 30 million supporters watching the team on TV last season. Some 10% of the country's total Facebook users are also a Manchester United Facebook follower and the club has a database of over 2.4 million Vietnamese fans who have registered their interest in United. We are very pleased to be able to work with BIDV to offer them this great new product, a first for both the banks and Club in Vietnam. With more than 120 branches and 600 transaction offices as well as over 1300 ATMs in 63 cities, BIDV has the right amount of presence around the country to be able to connect with our fans.

"We know from the other financial services sponsorships we have around the world that fans find this a great way to engage with the Club, with deals putting hundreds of thousands of cards in the hands of United fans within weeks of being available.

"BIDV shares many of the same values of Manchester United, such as striving to be pioneers in its industry whilst respecting its history and traditions. Everyone at the Club is looking forward to a successful partnership."

Another new partnership...

Love De Gea. Just so happy he has a title to his name. What a ride he's been on already in his young United career.

EDIT: Can't see us putting stars on our crest. Would be cheap and tacky tbh. We aren't City

'It was always Arsenal, Arsenal, Arsenal!' United-bound Zaha believed he was destined for boyhood team instead

Quote:
Manchester United's newest recruit Wilfried Zaha admits he thought he was only ever moving to Arsenal this summer, until Sir Alex Ferguson came in to make a bid for him.

Gunners fan Zaha claimed that while Arsenal are a good side, the call of United was impossible to reject.

The 20-year-old winger told The Sun: 'It was always Arsenal, Arsenal, Arsenal, Arsenal in terms of where I could be going.

'I have always supported Arsenal. I did not expect United to come in but they did. Arsenal are a good team but United are one of the best in the world.'

The Englishman has been a revelation at Crystal Palace this season, and was signed by United for Ł15million in January before being loaned back out to the Championship club until the end of the season.

Zaha said he is looking forward to the big move up north, but admits he will be star struck when sitting in the dressing room among some of the biggest stars in football.

'I am just anxious and excited,' he said. 'It will be something different. When I walk into that dressing room at United. I do not know what I will feel. I will keep my head down as I am there to play football.

'But I have to admit I will be a bit starstruck. Van Persie and Giggs will be in there - wow. Rooney will be in there - amazing. How can I not be looking forward to this?'

Zaha, who has one England cap, says he will have to get used to living in Manchester after being a Southern boy nearly all his life.

'Moving to Manchester will be something I have to get used as I have lived in the south of England since I was four.

' I will come down to see my family so I do not think my accent will change!'

Poor Arsenal. I am excited to see Wilfried Zaha develop at United though, he has a good attitude and will work hard.

Old guard set to return

Quote:
Sir Alex Ferguson is likely to shuffle his pack for the trip to Arsenal on Sunday with Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic poised to return at the heart of the defence.

Ferdinand was on the bench for the 3-0 win against Aston Villa while Vidic missed out altogether through injury as Jonny Evans and Phil Jones kept things tight at the back. However, Evans picked up a knock on Monday and Michael Carrick was on the receiving end of a heavy tackle.

With Jones being adaptable enough to move into midfield, the boss still has plenty of options and he expects to hand several players a chance to impress before the end of the campaign.

"Two of the players played with an injury throughout the [Villa] game," Sir Alex told MUTV. "Jonny Evans and Michael Carrick. Next week, I should have Vida and Rio back and I can put Jones into the middle of the pitch and play Vida and Rio together and we'll get the experience going to Arsenal.

"A lot of younger players, the ones who have been on the fringes for the last few weeks, and I desperately want them to feel their contribution has been big. Chicharito, Danny Welbeck, Tom Cleverley and Nani - I think it's important to get them involved in the last few weeks."

As for the older heads, they still have a part to play as the Reds conclude a successful campaign with Sir Alex already looking towards next term. "Giggs and Rio, the old codgers, can still carry on!" declared the manager. "Hopefully, we will have Paul Scholes fit in the next couple of weeks because he deserves to play in the last few games.

"Ryan is struggling isn't he? He's unbelievable with his energy. He's a freak - a unique freak! I tell you he can play for another two years, trust me."

Good news.

Video: Januzaj gets reward

Quote:
Adnan Januzaj has been handed the number 44 shirt number in the Barclays Premier League as a reward for his efforts at Under-21 level this term.

The Belgian prospect was featured in the recent United Uncovered newsletter, with MUTV also providing an exclusive video of some of his best moments.

Profile Januzaj was snapped up as a 16-year-old from Anderlecht and, after the red tape surrounding his signing was unravelled, he made an instant impact in Paul McGuinness’ Academy team. Injury cut short his first season but he was still promoted, ahead of schedule, to the Under-21s and has emerged as a key attacking force this year.

Style The teenager glides past defenders with ease and is capable of beating his man either on the flanks or straight down the middle. Adept at set-pieces - he has proved his worth with penalties, corners and free-kicks - the Belgian always craves possession but is also learning to show the right attitude towards the less glamorous side of the game. He has made real progress this term.

Quoted “I really like to play with the ball at my feet. It is more my type of play than defending. I take the set-pieces as well and always try to deliver the best ball I can and do something for the team to help my team-mates.” – Adnan Januzaj, April 2013.

Moment Playing at The Hawthorns in a tight match against West Brom’s Under-21s, Januzaj showed flair, imagination and acceleration to tee up Sean McGinty for the goal that broke the deadlock.

Congratulations to Adnan. I wonder if he will have a first team debut before the end of the season?

Video: Ryan rewriting history

Quote:
Only Manchester United and Liverpool have won more English top-flight titles than Ryan Giggs.

Absorb that fact for a moment because it is an incredible statistic. The evergreen midfielder now has 13 league medals to his name, bringing him level with Sunday's opponents Arsenal, who are the third most successful club in domestic history.

MUTV have produced an exclusive video to mark the achievement which encapsulates the contribution made by Giggs since he played a key part in the manager's first Barclays Premier League triumph 20 years ago.

The midfielder was effective again in the victory against Aston Villa on Monday, setting up two of Robin van Persie's goals, and Sir Alex believes he can keep playing at the top level for another two years.

Relive the moments of glory for Giggs over the years as he lifts trophy after trophy with the Reds.

Giggsy- Legend.

Robin's respect for Ryan

Quote:
Robin van Persie has revealed that it is an honour to train and play alongside Ryan Giggs.

The Welsh midfield maestro ensured a 13th title medal is on its way into his overstocked cabinet with a key role in the 3-0 victory against Aston Villa, setting up two of van Persie's three goals.

After signing a one-year contract extension, the veteran has been told by Sir Alex Ferguson that he can carry on for another couple of seasons.

"I was quite pleased we got the early goal and it was a great pass by Giggs," van Persie informed MUTV in an exclusive interview.

"It is an honour for me to play and train with him. It really is. I told him as well.

"Every training session, with the way he trains and loves the game, he sets the example for every single one of us for old and for young.

"The way he plays, today he gave me two brilliant assists and, every single day, he's just unbelievable in training and during games.

"He's 39 now but you can't tell. He's fit and he works his socks off. He is a true example for young and old."

When asked if he thinks he can carry on playing until such an age, van Persie laughed: "You never know! I love the game so we'll see!"
Nice praise.

Reds agree gloops deal

Quote:
• Japanese company gloops is the club’s first social gaming partner

(NYSE:MANU) Manchester United, one of the most popular and successful sports teams in the world, today (Thursday) hosted a launch event to celebrate its new sponsorship agreement with gloops, Japan’s leading social gaming company.

The new two-year regional sponsorship will see gloops become the club’s first Official Social Gaming Partner, allowing them the right to create and distribute a statistical-based battle card social game in Japan.

Manchester United has almost four million followers in Japan and the addition of gloops to the club’s family of sponsors follows on from a number of sponsorship agreements with some of the country’s most successful brands.

Founded in 2005, gloops was originally an advertising agency before diversifying into the online social gaming industry. Much like Manchester United, the company started from humble beginnings, employing just six people. Now, just eight years on, they employ over 600 across offices in Japan, the U.S. and Vietnam.

gloops has an annual turnover of Ą2.4 billion and produces 19 different games, boasting over 18 million members in Japan. The company has also been awarded one of the most prestigious social gaming awards in Japan.

Manchester United commercial director Richard Arnold comments:

"Our partnership with gloops is a first for the club and we are delighted that they are now part of the Manchester United family.

"gloops is a market leader in what is still very much an emerging industry. They are at the forefront of social gaming’s development in Japan and we believe they can help the club deepen our engagement with many of our four million followers in Japan.

"This is a very important territory for us, which is one of the reasons we chose to visit Japan as part of our Tour 2013, and we are very pleased to be able to offer fans innovative digital content from gloops.

"We are delighted to see this partnership bring Manchester United closer to a greater number of people through the distribution of new games and joint corporate social responsibility (CSR) projects. I know the Manchester United Foundation is keen to explore ways that it can work with gloops in this important area."

gloops president Shinsuke Kawakata comments:

"We are delighted to be launching our partnership with Manchester United, to create new game titles for the club’s millions of Japanese fans.

"As well as providing sports themed content to our 18 million users, gloops has also been an avid supporter of sports fans and athletes through our CSR programme, which was launched last year.

"Through our CSR programme we have already offered our local community tickets to baseball matches, as well as making donations to the TOMODACHI Project, a Japan-US initiative under the public and private sector partnership."
