Remembering Kerry
|
It has to go the full term, it is the one thing the Lib Dems ensured with the fixed term parliament bill.
They ensured they had 5 years at least of having some Ministers in Govt and a share of power for 5 years guranteed too. The Lib Dems won't walk away from this now, they are absolutely terrified of facing the electorate. If their own polling and the opinion polls had the Lib Dems say on around 20% or more, they would be looking for any excuse to bring this coalition down now in my view. I just hope the voters,(former Lib Dem voters especially), keep in mind the massive betrayal of their trust by the Lib Dems and the longer they are made to wait to get those votes back the worse they make it for the Lib Dems. Personally,I don't see the Lib Dems replacing Clegg,he has party grandees like Paddy Ashdown and Shirley Williams firmly in his camp. They know they are going to pay a heavy price in the 2015 election and they also know Clegg will be well gone after that. Hoping then to rebuild themselves again after the 2015 election with a leader likely to moan at most of what they supported as to policies in this coalition. The other problem I can see coming for the Lib Dems too in 2015, is that they could well be seen as near irrelevant, with the Conservatives, Labour and UKIP getting the main interest and publicity in the election campaign, especially if polls continue to show the Lib Dems in 4th place. So I can see this coalition lasting the full 5 years now or maybe the Lib Dems will think about pulling out of the full coalition in the last year but allow the Conservatives to be a minority Govt, not voting to bring them down. That's as far as it could go I think. |
