Default Do you think C5 could axe BB

Because of the low ratings that channel 5 had last night (2.11 million) I don't think it's that bad but if they axe the normal series they can't run CBB on it's own

And if it does go do you think it could go to another channel

I don't think it will go anyway I think it will stay on channel 5 for a couple more years

Edit: we have still got the rest of this year and next year to go anyway

And more if C5 do another contract

I don't think they will as 2.11mil is still quite high for a C5 show, but if they do axe BB and CBB, I think another channel would just pick up CBB and not BB.

As much as it saddens me to say it and I hope to god I'm wrong...but I think BB is heading towards a quiet death. Like I say, I hope to God I'm wrong as frankly I loved last night.

I really hope they don't axe BB, but to be honest I think they may axe the normal one but keep CBB.

Has the run on Channel 5 really shown that the public still care though? We hardcore fans will follow it wherever it goes but is it really worth it for another channel?

You're asking a big brother forum, full of big brother fans whether channel 5 should axe the very show they come here to chat about. Let me think about this for a second..

Edit.. Sorry I realised you said could. My bad!

No, not yet. I just think they should advertise the show alot more, the ratings were down to the lack of advertising imo

With sky it's about how much profit they make . Yes BB is not big anymore but it still makes some profit . I think it will go to sky or it will go away for 5-7 years and then make a massive return to channel 4 or 5

Most days Ch5 could get well under a million for any show.

So 2million for Ch5HD BB
is Utter Bliss

Sky weren't really that interested when Channel 4 axed it so I don't see them caring when Channel 5 axe it.

Im pretty sure this is the death of civilian BB no matter what people say about the contract being renewed blah blah blah.

We have not seen the contract where it states that in order to run CBB they need to air the civilian series aswell.

The celebrity version however is a massive hit with CBB11 launch getting 3.83 million and the finale getting 3.61 million (almost 2 million more than the finale of BB13).

I don't want BB to get the axe but I don't enjoy watching it die a slow death either.

Hopefully this series will build and become a relative success but I cant see it happening.

Sadly, yes. No doubt we'll then have 3 CBB's a year January, May, September

None of which I'd watch without the civilian series.

Lets just enjoy this year and hope for the best. One way or another it will return. Either until the ratings get lower than 500,000 for a launch/eviction and they pull or the plug. Or a big return on a bigger channel in ten years that will pretend the c5 version never happened.

Also let's not forget that other than the house costs and the prize money the regular series is rather cheap programming. They don't have to pay the people on it and there will never be a shortage of people wanting to go in, no matter how the ratings are.

BB is not a cheap programme to run.

They have to employ ALOT of staff to run the show and I believe last year they just about broke even on the civilian series when it came to profit.

It takes a lot of man hours to staff a show that runs every single day for 10 weeks.

Channel 5 admitted that BB had underperformed and that was with the launch' getting 2.7 and 2.9 million so the fact this only got 2.2 is not good.
