They tried to make a PG13 zombie film and it hasn't worked. It also looks like an awful adaptation of the book. They might as well have called it something else because it has nothing in common with the source material.

Definitely. I absolutely loved the book, I thought it was a refreshing take on zombie fiction and it worked on an overarching level of "what would happen if the world faced a global catastrophe?" The political contexts, the interviews with different characters, even down to the minute details like how did people stay positive throughout the crisis (e.g. the films) - but all of that magic has been lost by the way this film has been created. They took out all of the genius and stripped it down to "a book about zombies, that'd be a great film!" I'm very disappointed in Brad Pitt. World War Z would work much better as a TV series. The narrator is not a character, the narrator simply asks questions and listens to the answers. The narrator shouldn't be Brad Pitt, all guns swinging, having a family etc...

I'm just totally disappointed in this whole thing. I don't want to go and see it because I know I'll just be disgusted by the fact it shares a name with one of the best modern books I've ever read. I hope that one day someone will turn it into a high budget TV program and stays true to the nature of the book. It was practically made for TV, you know? People are interviewed and they retell their stories. You can have them doing voiceovers while action scenes are taking place. E.g. Sharon talking about how the grown ups were strangling all the kids in the church to save them from being turned into zombies, in her childlike manner. I feel emotional just thinking about it, that's one of my favourite parts of the book because I can just picture it so vividly, it's written so well. You just know that if it even features in Brad Pitt's turd of a film, it'll be a throwaway scene with no context. Brad Pitt will be giving some stupid smouldering look into the distance and then it'll cut to some people in a church killing kids and then onto the next scene. Totally not the point. URGH I'm so mad about this film even being made.

I saw this yesterday, and while I haven't read the novel, I've been meaning to for a long time and I know and awful lot already about the plot and the book's major concepts. That's why I just cannot understand how this movie can bear the same title as its source material when it's nothing more than a complete bastardisation of it. The novel specifically states the zombies cannot run, let alone form giant pillars of people that can scale 50 foot walls. It also ignored other things from the book, like how Israel survived in good shape thanks to effective quarantine policies, but instead just allowing Israel to be overrun.
