Default Good Celebrity Role Models for Children

Can you think of any good celebrity role models for children and give solid reasons for your choice of celebrity?

Remember these are people you would like your children to turn out to be and whose examples you would like them to follow.

Kylie Minogue... i'm not a big fan of hers but I think she has shown strength and determination in light of her recent struggles. She is a strong role model with good values for life.

I think David Beckham is an amazing role model. He's got it all, even without the money.

He's a very nice charming and well educated man.

Ray Mears- independent and adventurous.
Sarah Smith(more4 news)- clever and respected in her field.

instead we get idiots like Moss and Docherty being presented as glamorous and exciting to our kids.

tell you what though, there is a member of this site that kids could learn a lot from, he's a newbie but he seems a smart young lad.
http://zarrionwalker.co.uk/index.php...d=21&Itemid=32
i noticed him in a thread in the cbb forum and googled his name cos it seemed unusual and his avatar pic seemed to be proffesionally done.

Kylie for the reasons kizwiz gave.

Sarah Michelle Gellar-Young,sexy and dosent cheapen herself like many starlets.Gives young Hollywood a good name, pity people like Lindsay Lohan get the spotlight.

P!nk-Fairly oppinionated and strong personality, and goes against the grain when it comes "popular" trends and way of thinking

Angelina Jolie-Sure shes done some bad **** in her past, but she is a good soul, with great empathy and shows the celeb world what charity REALLY is.her goods way outweigh the bads, the way people should live, noone is perfect.plus she has great talent.

BAD ROLEMODELS

Paris Hilton-i think we all know why,the girl has charm, but id NEVER let any of my kids look up to her.

and theres a few "beautys" that i cant believe they are looked up to,Mischa Barton cronies etc.

Anyone who does a hard days work and isn't selfish.

So that rules out most of them.

I can't think of any from the top of my head.

To be honest, I think that the people who partyt and have bad press are actually quite good role models, because they are not afraid to be themselves and have fun.

Paris Hilton- I don't want this to cause constrovery by the way. But throughout the bad press shes had all her life, has NEVER changed. She has been herself all the way through, and hasn't changd for anyone.

Saying that, people like Kylie Minogue are aswell because shes strong and hasn't given up through her ilness!

Hmmm.. so somebody who takes drugs, drink, parties and scabs off her inheritance is a good role model???

i'm sorry but I just dont see how she can ever be a role model... I would rather have my children looking up to someone who has self respect and honesty

I understand your point Chris about Paris. But the harsh reality is - even though she has stayed herself throughout all the publicity - "herself" is not a very good person. She takes drugs and other... erm, obscene things. If THATS her, then I wouldn't class it as a role model.

I agree with you, some kids think its cool..... we've had these role models throughout the years, who glamourise drugs and make them expectable. I mean I'm no angel I havent been squeaky clean but if my children idolized this moron then I would sit them down and tell them my experiences and hopefully they might learn a few facts and not to go down the road of self obliteration that has become a norm

What she does isnt good, the way she handles it is. She never hides it.
I do have respect for Britney and other people like that.

The Pete Doherty arguement: I do not find him cool! I have been sticking up for people like Paris for being themselves, but I dont think any child should act like Pete. Drugs are not acceptable, from ANYONE, even Paris who I am a fan of.

I dont see that part of her.... she has always been a rich spoilt brat who thinks she can do what she likes and take what she likes.
