Default Will Welsh vote swing it for sam?

Looking at all the polls and gina is way ahead (dexter 2nd sam way behind)

Looking at the show and the producers seem to want gina to win, she has headline roles in loads of tasks she has endless camera time (others think shes interesting, but she has bored me to tears from the start , never made me laugh, but ive never enjoyed her much as I don't particularly like her)

yet she gets massive air time....shes a huge favourite with the BBOTS crowd and the polls see her miles ahead

yet the bookies have sam as strong favourite at 10/11 on

so what do they know?

Im thinking are they simply factoring in the welsh factor?
hes the only taff in there....hes a fantastic bloke imo
small country , but the welsh in my experience are profoundly patriotic people, so they will vote sam enmasse imo

whereas the others wont get the regional vote as theyre nearly all from southern England so their vote will be split

is this a major factor?

No.

Im Welsh and wont be voting for Sam just as the Irish wont vote for Hazel purely based on her nationality.

I think it's silly that people would vote for someone to win based entirely on where they come from. I would like to believe that this is (hopefully) not the case.

I hate geographical bias. The best housemate should win regardless of nationality/age/race/colour/gender/sexuality.

Dexter to win.

I dont get people who vote purely based on where the HMs come from. I dont think many people that petty exist. So no, I doubt it.

yeah but wales is tiny, so its more like saying people from Birmingham will vote for a brummie....just wondered if that's a factor....clearly you don't think so

so why are the bookies making him such a hot fave when hes way behind on the polls?

Because a lot of people who watch BB dont vote on polls, and bookies go on how much money is placed on housemates, not popularity polls.

Yup I know. Which is why the bookies are often wrong about the winner

BB12 had alex odds on fave for ages, then she came third. Books opened again and Jay was the fave. Then aaron won

I doubt Sam needs the Welsh votes, hes a good lad and deserves to win on his own merit, people who like "nice" and dislike "bitch" will vote for Sam

Internet fans (mostly*) think very differently to the casual fans who don't. We're generally more passionate about the show and want the biggest entertainer to win the prize. However, the casuals don't care about this and want who they consider to be the nicest person to win. The biggest example I can give would be with CBB9. Karissa and Kristina were leading most of the online polls as the favourite to win, yet they only finished 5th in the final.

*i said 'mostly', not all, before any sam fans quote me...

Hence why I used the word "mostly". I even included a little disclaimer, obviously you didn't bother reading it. There's plenty of people here who love the "good guys", i'm not denying that. I'm simply saying that there's also a large amount of people who prefer the likes of Dexter etc, hence why he has huge support on here and Digital Spy. Also, hence why he and Gina and their likes top many of the polls yet rarely go on to win the show. A large concentration of their fans are found here on the internet. I was answering your question...

I don't understand it either. Sam being welsh could tip the balance if they already like him then they're going to support him over other people they like. Especially as they've never had a Welsh winner before. But this won't be a large enough proportion to make a huge difference

It so annoying when someone makes a general, none specific statement and you get closed minded, self indulgent people who dismiss what they say because it doesn't necessarily apply to them..... Just because the person who created the thread asked a simple question or even suggested a topic of choice, you have people claiming, "ooh I would never vote for Sam because he's welsh and I'm welsh!" For pity sake he hasn't said blimming Brenda from Wales is going for vote Sam to win because they share the Same nationality..... ITS A SUGGESTION NOT A PERSONAL ATTACK ON INDIVIDUAL PEOPLE.....come on

Why would "common sense" swing it for Sam? Common sense would work against Sam, it's an entertainment show, he's not entertaining.

I think he stands a very good chance. He has been the most consistent and caused the least trouble. I think people still consider who they could put up living with and he would be the easiest, least trouble and funnily enough most entertaining to live with. Imagine which one YOU would actually want to live with.

They put in the nasty ones for the entertainment not because they think they are going to win it. That's why it is ebtertaing. Darth Vader is very entertaining but you don't want him to win over Luke skywalker who is not as entertaining do you.

Perhaps times have changed. When I was a kid I didnt vote for dartboard Vader to win on star wars, I wanted the good ones to win. I also loved the daleks - very entertaining. We certainly live in different times now. Sally was very entreating, perhaps she should have won, there was also a massive storyline with Hazel. After all it is who is the most entertaining nowadays.
