Default Can you spray gun a cat?

There's this big b*astard of a cat that keeps going into my garden and taking a dump next to my hebe. Now I've got one of those mega spray cannon water guns and next time the little sh*t tries to take a dump I'll hose him down.

I just want to make sure I'm not going to get the RSPCA after me or anything I mean this cat is big but this water gun thing could probably tip a rhino. I don't want this thing to try it on with my cat either she's delicate.

Can I do it?

Erm. Sounds quite cruel, but if done regularly it should work. I dont think it will be a RSPCA thing either, as you wont actually be doing the cat harm? If its a really strong one though, do it from a distance incase you do actually hurt it..the shock of the water should be enough

We used to train our kittens not to climb the curtains/xmas tree/whatever by squirting them with a little spray bottle (one that you use for plants). Not quite what you are describing but it was extremely effective.

Ah good.

I'm not evil or anything I have my own cat and I wouldn't dream of hurting her but this thing is a nasty piece of work and I'm planning on planting rows of alpine strawberries next year. This ********* will eat them I know it.

Best way to stop a cat crapping in your garden is to get some lion/tiger crap and put it there so the cat smells the bigger cat and wont go near apparently.

Good luck.

I'm not sure if it's against the law, spraying an animal is probably okay, but the super blaster squirt guns... I'm not sure. But if you hit my cat with one, let's just say you'd look pretty foolish at casualty trying to explain how you got a squirt gun stuck up your arse.

Orange peel and citrus essential oil on the soil deters them, and like Vicky said, big cat crap... if you know a friendly zookeeper.

We make the following recommendations as ways which may deter cats from a garden:

The use of prickly plants and ground cover plants to hide the bare soil that is so attractive to cats. The watering of flowerbeds, as cats don’t like walking over damp earth;
A low-pressure water spray; however it is important to ensure that this does not cause distress to the cat or lead to pain, injury or suffering. The water jet must never be directed straight at a cat, and care must be taken when using a spray not to cause a cat to injure itself or bolt into a dangerous situation, for example, into the path of traffic or a dog;
Chicken wire can be used to protect specific areas and is preferable to netting which wild animals can become caught in;
There are a variety of approved chemical repellent products on the market but it is important to ensure a product is licensed and the instructions are read carefully. The chemical should be approved by the Chemicals Regulation Directorate under the Control of Pesticides Regulations for the particular animal and situation in question.

I don't know any zoo keepers so that ones out.

I'll spray the ground near it if the thing has any sense it will bugger off.

Put pepper down in the area..

I wouldn't use water if it's quite high pressure.. You could injure it!

Could you not just fire it at its feet so it gets some splash back but you're not firing high pressure water at a small animal? I'm pretty sure you'd cause it internal injuries if you aimed it directly at the cat.
