When I was young I thought Rumpelstiltskin (I was terrified of him, still creeps me out a bit if I'm honest) was under my bed so I would take a long run and jump on the bed so he couldn't grab my ankles.

When I was young I thought that if you put something in a fax machine, it would send it to the end location, so I thought you could put like a flower into a fax machine and it would be teleported over to somewhere else. I used to slide down the sofa at home on my stomach from the back down to the floor and declare "I'm a fax!" and my parents had no idea what I was talking about until like last year when it came up in conversation and I explained . I basically invented 3D printing 20 years before it existed

I used to think people lived in the hi-fi. My mum and dad owned this big hi-fi stereo system, and when they played records on it, I thought the people were inside it singing.

I also used to run past the big mirror in the hall to see if I could beat my reflection.

My parents were in hysterics when I solved the mystery, it was only last year when I was in my dad's office one day for some reason (I think I was picking my brother up from work and we swung in past to see my dad) and he was away through to their printer/fax/scanner machine so I went through with him and mentioned that I used to think faxes sent the bit of paper to the other end like teleportation and he was like OMG!!!!! and called my mum

I thought that mincemeat (and therefore mince pies) was literally just minced... meat... so I was a bit alarmed that everyone ate them with cream and stuff. Never tried them until I was about 16.

I got chicken pox when I was 5/6, and it was the day after I'd eaten some chicken soup.

I didn't eat chicken soup again until I was 15/16.

ha ha ha glad theres some weird and wonderful ones on here. When I was young someone told me that is you squashed a crisp up to as small as you could it would turn to soup. I regularly crunched up crisps to see if they would turn to soup.

When I was young I thought the word "Arsenal" was a swear word and would replace it with the word "Bumnal" until I was like 11. My family used to have a great laugh about it.

.....that the man in the moon was real, I'd look for him, and that if you ate your crusts you'd have curly hair (I wanted curly hair for some reason) and I also thought that if you dug down far enough you could tunnel through to Australia.
