Don't be sorry, Ammi. You are a busy lady.

Yes, thank you, we had a nice time.
The first night was a fancy dress, theme was Hollywood. Winner was Pirate of Caribbean. (I was one of three judges)
I did not know what to wear, so Yko and I wore evening dress, she was more like Tiffany with long black gloves and I tried to be May West with white long shawl. I could have blond wig and lot of handkerchiefs for my front.
New Year's Eve was Black Tie. After midnight we danced disco and even Gay Gordon.

I hope you and your family (and all TiBBers) have a peaceful and healthy 2014.

Was your mum a fan of him? By any chance, you were named after him?
When I was young, I used to jive with his music.

..oh, the Hollywood theme sounds like it was fun, Sooty..I bet you made a very glamorous Mae West, but yeah she would need a few hankerchiefs lol..did you enjoy judging it..?..you must be a very accomplished dancer yourself, for them to ask you to do it....

I do not think anybody have guessed what I was with dark hair and flat somehting with oriental face!

I was asked to become one of judges, only becasue the DJ's wife knew me, nothing to do with dancing.

The competition was pure costume only. Top three were the winner, Pirate of Caribbean, second one was wizard in Oz, the third one was Phantom of Opera, there were more like Kojac, Marlin Monroe, Greece. etc.
I chose Phantom as number one but other two judges chose pirate.

There were few quite good dancers (former dance competitors level). They were just admireable to watch.

...ahh, the dressing up all sounds really fun, Sooty..you must love that and all the Hollywood glamour, I imagine that people go to a lot of effort as well...I wish they had more dancing near to where I live..I used to love doing Salsa but the guy who did it, stopped and I haven't found another one...

One of costume I thought it was simple but a clever idea; a rather young man, (do you remember all of us at the party was well over above certain ages), he just put artificial partial hair piece like John Travolta, and wore white t-shirt and black slightly short trousers and straight away everybody recognised who he was. (Grease)

How about a church hall or community hall and you can run it, Ammi!

..yeah, I think that often the most simple things work out the best..it's the same with Halloween etc, many people hire costumes and they're terrific but the ones that people put together themselves and in a simple way, always impress me so much...

..my Salsa is ok, Sooty..I did do it for quite a while, but I wouldn't even nearly be good enough to feel as though I could confidently teach others...I will see if there are any around that I could start going to again, though..you've given me the bug lol...did your husband dance at all..?...

I did not think he was. But he was very keen to improve. He spent so much money on having private lessons. (But of course he was a good man.)

Have you seen African dance/move, they are so natural, majority of them did not have dance lessons or anything, just natural mover aren't they?
My husband case, totally opposite, he loved dancing and tried to be better but.............

...yeah I do know what you mean Sooty, I think it's kind of a difference between hearing the music/beat and feeling the beat...kind of just being completely absorbed by it...and even 'technically good' dancers don't always have or feel that..?...
