Default should Maria Thriller be sacked and should we end MP self regulation ?

should Maria Thriller be sacked and should we end MP self regulation ? 06.04.14

shame on you Maria
this is not at all green
118 has no fear
because you are not cheap like Maureen.
how dare you abuse
your own pocket lining
talk about a live fuse
yet again gone is the "Conservative" shinning.
all you done was claim
your position you did manipulate
blatant was your no shame
as you focused all on the calculate.
has Cameron backed a winner
public opinion seems to be anti
we can all see the sinner
living in luxury while our towns became "shanty".
don't worry about public frustration
you Conservatives are all in each others pocket
i am calling for a end to "self regulation"
and on forums i hope support does rocket.

( i tried to get this to the con party but have not yet received feedback on what i am asking for - nore do i think i will. just wanted to no does anyone feel sorry for Maria Miller ? ps the person who can point out my MJ contribution can we a bonus poem on what ever they want ? just tell me how i have brang in Micheal Jackson into this debate ? if you wanted to read what i am ranting about you can here - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-26908940 )

I agree, politicians are fundamentally dishonest and cannot be trusted to claim normal expenses. I think there should be depending on the location of the MP's constituency a fixed amount paid to each MP. This travelling money should be included in their salary.

Sad to think we have to do this because we have zero trust in our elected leaders.

No, I don't think she should resign or even be sacked but not because I think she is good at her job or deserves to be a Minister.

Politics sadly is brought into disrepute by MPs of al parties, here is another.
We are told she has apologised and that is that, well in fact she only apologised because she was told to,there would have probably been no apology for anything at all from her voluntarily.
We are then told she hasn't really done anything wrong, incredible.
How can it be that you haven't claimed anything you shouldn't have and therefore done nothing wrong but yet you have to pay back £5,800.

You really couldn't make it up the way some MPs can get their wrongdoings dressed up.

Should she be sacked or resign, no I say, leave her there and let her be a focal point right through to the next election as to this.
Her arrogance is beyond belief to me.

Also she is not the only one still serving in Govt either, David Laws enjoys a nice little position again in Govt, again appointed by David Cameron, despite his deceit on expenses as well.

If any ordinary person had acquired around £6,000 they shouldn't have, had also been uncooperative with the people investigating same too, then even with an apology and paying money back they would still almost for sure end up being sacked and up in court for the matter.

Maria Miller is yet another example of the very bad judgement and misguided loyalties of this PM, David Cameron, so for me, leave her as a Minister and let people everytime she comes on TV recall what she has done and who supports her.

No wonder Grant Schapps and the PM say it should be the end of the matter and it's time to move on, however they would not, either of them, be saying that were this a Labour MP in Govt.
More sheer hypocrisy and weak leadership from Cameron again.

If she is sacked..then they need to sack the hundreds before her who have done the very same thing. And the hundreds who will continue to do it as they can get away with it.

There needs to be strict guidelines in place for expense accounts, and an independant body reviewing them on a very regular basis. I would go for anyone caught fiddling from X date is sacked or treat the same way that a normal person fiddling their taxes to the same amount (for example) would be.

And if the mass fraud continues, then scrap expenses. I see no reason for the taxpayer to be funding full english breakfasts at expensive hotels and such tbh...

They have sacked MPs for less but they weren't ministers... or conservative.
It's ironic that this happened in the same week as IDS vowed to take houses from fraudulent welfare claimants.

Thank you waterhog, I appreciate your comment there.

I also agree it is shame on this 'lady?.
For all the way she has handled this issue both during the process of investigation into her and after it too.

We shouldn't even be having this discussion, she should have gone immediately. If I stole over five grand from work I'd be arrested. Every MP that fiddles should be arrested and charged. If IPSA wasn't so concerned with policing MP's staff and counting *******ing paper clips and instead concentrated on what they're there for, thieving scum like this woman would be awaiting trial.

I want to see her "great attitude" convincing another employer to trust her.

She is a public servant. Nothing more, nothing less. Sometimes they forget that. Sometimes WE forget that.

I was thinking this, if I stole £500 from my work I'd be out on my arse... £5000 and I'd be facing charges. But then I realised what the difference is - I'd be taking money from the profits of a private company (unforgivable!!) whereas they're just taking money from the tax pot. And after all, what is it there for other than for them to feed off of? It's just public money.

Then again... take a look at what happens to a benefits claimant who fraudulently claims £5000. And there's really no difference, then. What are MP's expenses other than benefits?

I don't work for a private employer I work for the government. And I can assure you that if I fiddled £5000 worth of cash or goods I would be arrested, and rightly so. She should have been arrested and charged with fraud. Ignorance of the law is no defence.

If a benefit claimant fraudulently claims money, they should be charged too. Two rights don't make a wrong... and the government have to underline that by making sure their own MPs don't get away with it and demonstrate we're all equal under the law.

Yes I see. A pension payment anomaly. I think the key phrase here is ""It is not an investigation into the conduct of any individual member of staff.". It's not the same thing as the MP's expenses question at all.
